We are a boutique wine shop specializing in interesting wines from around the world. Located in the Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, we strive to make wine drinking fun, friendly and dynamic, just like this beautiful neighborhood we live in.

Wine is a poetic form. It’s a language that uses neither words nor images, and yet it’s one everyone can speak in their own way. Please come to our wine tasting events and let’s enjoy it together!

There aren't many liquor store options on this part of Washington Ave in Prospect Heights & those that are there are the down scale neighborhood places where you can get your $9 liter and a half of vodka in a plastic jug. The Winey Neighbor fills a void of affordably priced, but well curated wines hand-picked by the owners, who are oenophiles first and business people second. Their clever visual graphics of food pairings and the previously unseen musical pairings sets this wine store apart from any I've visited in the NYC area. 

While most bottles are affordable, there are some pricier options. A $50+ Super Tuscan, for example, which the owner described to me as being from a vineyard 500 meters from the ocean - "you can taste the sea mist ... it reminds me of oysters." But most everything else is affordable and interesting. I didn't recognize many labels in my perusal of their shelves, which says quite a bit in my book. This isn't a store filled with whatever the wholesalers are shilling. 

I'll be back again even though I live far, far away.

Super cool little store with an extremely thoughtfully curated selection of outstanding wines and spirits in every price range. Everything is very well described and the staff is extraordinarily knowledgeable and friendly. You won't be disappointed.
