For us, Veterinary Medicine is about creating a heart to heart connection. It is about the joy of seeing little animals born, taking care of them throughout their life, giving them as healthy of a life for as long as possible and at the end help them pass through this life as painlessly as possible.
Of course we love a challenging case and being able to sort out the complex details and interconnections between different body parts, but it is the poignant attachments that we create with people and their pets is what makes it all worth it.
We want to be able to provide the most sophisticated medicine in the valley, while at the same time we recognize that along with increased sophistication, the expense of modern veterinary medicine is getting beyond-the-ability-to-afford for some folks. We like to give our clients options to direct their pets heath care.
We want our clients to be a partner in taking care of their pets. We will always share what we think about the disease process and discuss all the options available, but we believe that the client is always in the driver seat and they need to decide how they want the treatment for their pets to proceed.
Our services are driven by 3-H’s
Health: It is not just the absence of a disease, but a state of being. As they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. We try to begin the prevention process early by starting your pet on proper nutrition, addition of well thought out vitamins and minerals, suggestions on exercise plans, carefully orchestrated vaccine protocols (or testing titers in allergic pets), routine blood work and regular physical exams.
Holism: We look at veterinary medicine more holistically. Holism does not mean just using acupuncture or herbs. This means creating health, not just curing diseases. We discuss pets' surroundings, environmental enrichments, exercise, and relationship with their owners.
Happiness: A pet who cowers when meeting a stranger, who has such serious separation anxiety that it eats the "house" whenever the owner leaves, is not in a happy place for either the pet or the people. We want other people to experience the kind of relationship we have experienced with our own pets. With that comes a wholesome approach of mind body and spirit for both pets and their owner. Usually a good time to start that is in selecting a pet to bring home. This is the reason why we spend a great deal of time with new pets and pet owners hoping to enable them to have a fulfilling and enriched life together.
