What a joke! We spent $270/semester on parking in Zone 6 (Student Center) and they consistently block off half of our lot to visitors for events leaving only 2 levels for commuter students to park. Rather than allow students to park in any of the other zones on this day that may be closer, they force us to park in the overflow lot that is another 10-15 minute walk from our class often costing us valuable class time that we spend a lot of money to attend! I usually have to pay an additional $10 (price of day pass) to park in another lot because I have severe tendonitis in both knees and the added walk distance takes way more time and is extremely painful for me. I don't understand how they can charge us the same amount as all the other Zones pay when we can rarely even park in the main structure for this Zone. This guest parking situation would be fine if a) They reduced the price for that lot, b) Allowed students to park in other lots during that day, or c) Did not reserve spots for guests and allowed them to find open spots. Personally, it's unfair in my opinion to the students who spend all of this money to not only attend this University, but then to pay the overpriced parking charges, only to be kicked to the curb for visitors who would only be using a one day pass. It really shows a lack of care for the students for students spending tens of thousands to attend college here and keep it running. Frankly UCI Transportation Services is set up in a really exploitative manner that takes advantage of students with expensive parking rates that students are forced to pay for as a result of there being no accessible free parking around the campus. For commuters, this just makes it another challenge to our learning process.

As someone said in the past, they issue you citations with ridiculous charges - they charge outrageous rates for parking that is far higher than any UC in the state. Then after charging you these ridiculous rates they still rent out levels of the parking structure with little to no notice even during finals and midterms time forcing students to park 20-30 minutes away and be late for their classes. Furthermore even when you're cited for being in a correct parking spot with the correct permit and you appeal, they refuse it and the ONLY way to appeal to the second level is to pay the fine in full in person with a check or money order or mail it with a written statement saying you want a second level appeal even though you can pay the citation completely online but you can't request a second level appeal online. Then when they take your money and they accept your appeal, you have to wait for months and they conveniently schedule it around Finals so most students can't attend and when you inform them of this they tell you "too bad, miss your class/final or get your money back for a citation that we incorrectly issued for you." Horrible organization.

This is by far one of the most stupidest transportation services in the UC system. I got cited for correctly parking in an unmarked stall and the police officer had the gall to write down my permit number and say there was no valid permit displayed. Not only do you pay a ridiculous amount for parking, but you have to be defending your parking rights every so often. I thought UCSD had a terrible parking situation, but I've never been cited for correctly parking. I'm awaiting for my appeal to be rejected so I can go through another bull repeal process. 1 star is definitely too good for this service.

this corporation is the scum of the earth - I appealed a citation because I was making an appointment at the HEALTH CENTER & I didn't register my car bc they had just changed their system (used to be computers on the left & I didn't notice the new iPads bc i was SICK & out of it). I was only in there for 10mins MAX (making the appointment). Came out, had a ticket, obviously appealed it & was asked to provide proof of me being at the health center on that day. I got a clearance form & sumbitted it to their office. Today (months later!!!!!!), I received an email saying that the clearance form was never received & my appeal had been denied. The employee at the front desk told me the situation was handled & the ticket would be cleared. So unprofessional, evidently very organized, I hate dealing with them. they are the absolute worst

I had a valid parking permit for the quarter. I parked in Mesa Parking structure,. I unfortunately parked in a space that had very faded cross-lines that was next to regular parking. There was plenty of parking around me and I received a citation for illegally parking. I was shocked to see a parking ticket and when I read where I parked I looked under my car and saw very faint lines. I took a picture to send and fight my citation because had a proper permit in a half-empty lot and had mistaken a no-parking spot because of the faded paint. Even with my photo of the clearly unmarked space, the transportation and distribution office refused to acknowledge this and told me to pay up. I did not think this was fair. Where the hell does all our money go?? I pay $300+ a quarter to park and they can't even upkeep the parking lots. Not to mention they are totally unfair. Even to students who pay! GREEDY and SELFISH is all I can say. These must be the most miserable people on the planet.
