This lot is a rather bittersweet parking location. While its layout is an afterthought with the deconstruction of the Bayside Expocenter and up-shoot in demand for UMass Boston parking spaces, it's actually one of the better parking options for UMass Boston students. One of the biggest issues it has is that the shuttle-bus stop is only near the first few sections of the parking lot. Once those sections are filled, parking can be found in a counter-clockwise drive around the rubble of the expocenter. These other parking sections get further and further away from the shuttle-bus stop which takes students to campus proper. Otherwise, students will have to walk all the way down Mt. Vernon street, then University Drive up to the Clark Athletic Building, and then trek across the entire campus to reach the main building: The Campus Center. The shuttle bus is the better option, but you're likely to miss it having to circle around the rubble on foot. There is no pedestrian cut-through for commuters who have parked on the exact opposite side, near the teacher's union building. All other lots get full rather quickly with the beginning of each day. And even after they're full, students drive around with their cars in the lots, waiting for other students to leave. These sharks tend to end up waiting like 10-20 minutes for a spot, depending on whether or not classes just ended or just started. Others get lucky and manage a spot within 5 minutes, but it's a gamble in general. Lot D is the next closest lot, not filling up very quickly and has a larger number of spots than any of the lots on campus proper. However, there's no shuttle bus, so you'll have to walk from your spot, follow University Drive up to the Clark Center (shorter walk if you cut through one of the passes-only lots), and the cross campus all the way to Campus Center. Bayside beats out both of these in terms of the sheer effort you spend trying to get from a parking spot to the campus. You park, walk to the shuttle-bus stop and then you wait. You get on the bus and it takes you there. The amount of time you would have spent sharking in a full lot, you could have spent much less trouble. On top of that, you spend less time walking than if you had parked in Lot D. For that reason, it's the better of the two options. However, the fact that Bayside is even the main fallback parking lot option is a result of administrative oversight from the University. A single parking enclosure if built before undergoing construction on three new buildings and the deconstruction of Bayside would have been a better investment as it would have provided the necessary scale-able infrastructure for commuting students to get into campus and find parking. They would limit their contracting costs with the shuttle bus company to shuttling students to the Red Line, the JFK Museum, and the Campus Center. They could expedite the construction of Bayside (into what I assume to be the plans for dorms) since there's no one parking there anymore. All of the construction decisions that have lead to Bayside even being a student parking lot in the first place have contributed significantly to the recent budget crises. Bayside is a monument to the lack of logistic sense of the University. I can't remember how many winters ago it was, but because of the high volume of snowfall, and the distance between the campus and the bayside parking lot, many students were trapped behind and in a myriad of shuttle buses and other local traffic at Mt. Vernon street when they were just trying to get to their cars. By decentralizing parking, they were creating these dangerous elements of the snow emergency along that street. Students took as long as 4 hours to get out of that road (I took about that much time one of the days I got stuck behind a bus). Bayside parking lot is a mess, but it's a necessary parking location now. There are not enough parking spots for the university students. UMass Boston has been renting out additional parking spaces from a local church on Mt. Vernon Street. (Character limit exceeded)

Its a pain parking here and taking the shuttle to campus. Plus the lot is disorganized and needs signage.

Parked for an event at the Kennedy library. Made sure I locked my doors but fine otherwise.
