I've been to a couple Unitarian Universalist congregations in my time and have finally found one that embraces a diverse sense of spirituality. At the UU Fellowship of Beaufort I feel at home and feel good about how open this congregation is. You can truly be yourself here. Rev. White goes out of the way to encourage the congregation to follow their own spiritual paths, which is rewarding and liberating to say the least. We've only been here for a couple years, but in that time the congregation has started a Green Sanctuary program to support environmental advocacy locally, nationally and internationally. As well as a young adult group, a Pagan/Earth-centered affinity group, a Buddhist/Meditation group, a book reading club, a Welcoming Congregation program to support LGBTQ advocacy. I came from a Catholic background and was tired of all of the hatred and discrimination by the religious organization I was a part of and I was lost as I didn't really feel spiritually fulfilled just by going to mass. I needed to be a part of something that actively fought injustices....and thus found myself at a Unitarian Universalist congregation. If you feel like you are disconnected from others at your congregation, come here and you will feel as though everyone is an extended family member of your own family. If you want to take part in saving the environment or supporting social injustices...you need not look anywhere else. It's all under one roof here and you will find a spiritual fulfillment parallel to none other being a part of a faith and a congregation that takes action such as this one does.
