I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Josh Petersen and his nurse Julie. They are absolutely AMAZING. Hands down best pediatrician my kids and I have seen. They are super thorough and make sure you leave the office feeling confident. My child had an ER visit and Josh personally called me on his day off (Saturday) to check on my son and make sure he was feeling better. I don't know any other provider that calls their patients to check in. They truly do go above and beyond the call. If they aren't sure how to answer your question, they find you an answer. Julie is super sweet, calls back quickly, and treats my children with the kindness and respect they deserve. They value my time and concerns as a parent and there is no such thing as a dumb question with them. You guys are THE best!

I had a HORRIBLE experience! My little one was sick on Christmas Eve, so we made an appt so she wasn't sick for the holidays. The lady that checked us in at the front desk was extremely rude and unfriendly. The nurse had me in tears by the end of the appointment, and I expressed my concern to the doctor. Luckily, Dr. Shearer saw that I was extremely frustrated and apologized for the other "employees" actions. She walked me to the lab and made sure that my little one and I were taken care of after that.

I am so happy with Dr Bernard and her nurse Amy. They've been seeing my kids since they were born and they are 6 & 4 now. Amy is a sweet heart and always puts the kids at easy with her fun little things (beep, beeps in the ear for temperature, muscle tester for blood pressure) She's quick and thorough, and the kids love her. (ps. She's super fast with shots) Dr. Bernard is very knowledgeable and has eased my fears many times in the last 6 years. She's extra sweet with a hidden sense of humor for the kids. Especially when the kids got older, she talks to them, making them feel special with side notes to mom or dad:) I've always been able to schedule the next annual appointment before leaving and I like that they have weekend & late hours so we can stay out of the Urgent care and ER as much as we can. Even calling the clinic for questions (should I bring my child in?) the receptionist will page a nurse and you get to talk with them within minutes & they will work you in to be seen if needed. One of the other convieniences is lab right in the building and X-ray being just across the skywalk, no having to pack sick kids from appointment to appointment. And results are super quick. I recommend Unity Point Pediatric CR to anyone with little ones!

Tried stopping today to pick up a prescription for my daughter. Regular office hours on Sundays are 8am to 1pm. I got to the office a couple mins after noon to find the doors locked. When I tried calling, it sent me to an after hours nurse. As a service provider, if your schedule says you are open, you should be available to serve those that are depending on you for healthcare regardless of if you have any scheduled appointments or not. I think it's time I find a more reliable care provider for my children. I'm very disappointed in this office.

Uncompassionate doctors and staff. In November 2012 four of my five children were "termed" (medical lingo for when a provider kicks a patient out of their practice) from Hiawatha Pediatrics by "Dr. Rick" for contradictory and false reasons. (One child, our oldest son, a patient of Dr. Wieslaw Machnowski's, was not "termed," likely, due to his intervention.) In addition to keeping poor people "in their place," I think that the real reason for our children getting "termed" was due, at least in part, to the fact that they are Title 19 patients, and removing five of them from a medical practice would, of course, allow patients with better-paying insurance to enter that practice. Now that "Dr. Rick" has left the UnityPoint Pediatrics practice, I recently asked Dr. Bernhard, a former provider for my two oldest children, to correct the discriminatory injustice which they were subject to. Dr. Bernhard refuses to even speak with me about this issue, refusing my request for a phone conversation. An injustice, whether it occurred a year ago or ten years ago, is still an injustice, and I would ask Dr. Bernhard, if she is truly an ethical medical doctor, to correct the discrimination which my children were subject to two years ago.
