Receptionist at the desk needs an adjustment. We had 2 quick questions to ask end up wanting for 40 minutes. Finally asked it only took 5 minutes to answer. The doctors I'm fine with no problems there. They need to fire that one receptionist to the left something ain't right . I was asking her to schedule my test she wrote it on a sticky note in the corner of my eye on the way out I see her throwing that same sticky note away I still never received anappointment date.

I was referred to Kovac/Kraber when it was discovered that I had low T due to some other health issues. My levels were ~100-200 in the morning. Kraber is working with me on adjusting the medications to get the hormones in the correct levels, but I feel much better than I ever had before in my life. I'm not just relying on sexual function improvement, but just overall quality of life. I was so depressed and at such a low level of enjoyment that my daily routine included an argument about whether or not life was even worth it. I don't have that argument with myself anymore. I wake up in the morning and instead of a feeling of dread and pain running through every muscle in my body, I actually have energy and I don't hate waking up. It was as if I was finally able to breathe. I want to address some of the other reviews I've read to assuage any concern you as a potentially patient may have. First, the receptionist to the left is a very nice person. What I hope is that you, as a potential patient or a current patient, realize is that there are thousands of people that go through this office to see just Kraber and Kovac. Thousands... And they only just recently updated their systems to be more conducive to electronic data versus handwritten data. Give her a break and please exercise patience. Secondly, again this ties into the first point. There are thousands of patients that come through just these two practitioners. So it should be no surprise that their schedules are booked quite heavily. I had a two month wait before my first appointment. However you can call and see if there has been any cancellation to move you up. It is unrealistic to expect any office to constantly follow-up to see if a person can come at an earlier appointment time. They don't know everyone's personal schedules, only the patient does. I had new labs done this past week and when I got the results I wanted to review them with Kraber. I called at 8:15 AM on a Thursday and was able to get in at 9:45 AM the exact same day. Thirdly, sometimes you will have a longer wait than usual. Longest wait I had was an hour but shortest wait I had was less than 5 minutes. The longer wait times I've had were primarily because there was a bunch of people who bogged down the system by coming in and complaining. Sitting there watching and listening to what these people were complaining about makes me hate the general population. "I was caught up in traffic. I was late because I slept in. I needed to pick up my groceries so I was late. I had to wait for my girlfriend to get her nails done. Etc." Honestly, if you aren't willing to wait 30-60 minutes to have your medical problem addressed then quite frankly your medical problem isn't severe enough to even have an appointment. You'll do the patients' whose medical problems are important a great service by not even showing up. So... thank you Kyle, Dr. Kovac, and the medical staff that supports them. You're all doing a great job.

Took a few MONTHS to get in, despite the urgency. I asked to get on a cancelation list. I was told they don't offer that service. Only Kovac was willing to see a new patient for Low T there. And there aren't many choices for that, for my insurance. 1st appt: Felt rushed. No education was imparted. I had more questions. No real patient-doctor connection was established. I was assembly-lined. He threw a dart at the board (metaphorically), to pick a Testosterone med. Then sent me away; without even reading my new patient paperwork first ( I know because I asked). He just based it on what my T levels have been (I brought proof), and took new blood, to satisfy my insurance. I'm not even sure if they checked for cancer markers. They didn't send the result to my Dr, so she didn't know either. With such cut-and-dry criteria as age and T levels, and no real guide for what meds are best, I don't see why my Primary Doc couldn't just put me on the meds. I went to pick up the meds at Krogers ... who only had the anti-estrogen pills. They knew nothing about the Testosterone. I called Kovac's nurse about it. I was not called back. Finally got him on the phone the next week. As it turned out, he took it upon himself to send my information to a long-distance pharmacy, to have them send me the meds. We never discussed that. I would not have OK'd that. He never even told me. My insurance has a short list of T meds they will pay for. That med wasn't on it. The long-distance pharmacy never told me there was a problem. They weren't proactively working on it either. I had to get the list of meds my insurance will cover, then call my local pharmacy, see what they carry, and then call Kovac''s nurse back with the list. He advised the shots. If Kovac's office was efficient, I'd have left with the proper education and with the proper type and dosage of meds. My struggles didn't end there, however. Nope. Kovac has a rule. 1st-time self-injection patients have to be trained by his nurse in that office (which is almost an hour away from where I live). They refused to allow my primary doctor's office to train me and verify I know how. Making me come there to be "shot trained" boosts their profits (great), but further delays my recovery from the effects of severely low T, and costs me more stress and expense. So we made that appnt and I got trained. Then the nurse handed me the script and sent me away. -but ... they put me on half of the normal ~starting~ dosage (that most clinics in the U.S. start with); with no reason other than "we always just do that.". 3 weeks later, when I called to ask for a more reasonable dosage, his nurse said "Sure. No problem"; as long as I make another appointment. Update: 5/3/2017. Met with someone named "Kyle". Today is the due date for my next injection; been on T-shots for 1 month now. I think Kyle read my first review. He came in with a very aggressive posture. Looking back, I am sure he will think to himself "that was not my finest moment". I'm sure he's usually a good guy. On the way out of the room, Kyle made a passing gesture of kindness. That's good. I liked that part; but I hope I don't have to see him again. I'm going to ask my primary doc if she can take over this aspect of my care. Kyle said that: if she does, they won't help her if she asks for any. Then Dr K's male nurse came in, to give me a T shot. I felt bad for dropping the F bomb. It just slipped out. I've never felt that much pain from a shot before. It was like when a dentist tries to drill into a tooth that isn't numb; except it was in my leg. I have to wonder how often that happens. No doubt I'll dread shots a lot more now, for many years to come. I don't know if it's possible to intentionally make a shot hurt like that; so I dare not accuse him of it. On my way out, their receptionist (a few pretty lady) was so sweet and genuine. She was the happy note that I was glad to leave on. Update: My primary Doc agreed to take over my T therapy. I never have to go back to UoI again.

Arrived at my scheduled time of 0920. It is now 0953 and I am still waiting. I was unable to get a quote for their consultation price with the billing department prior to arriving, and asked again when I arrived in office. The quote I received from the desk worker was between 103$ and 600$. So the industry standard is still to sign an agreement to pay in full, but you will not be able to know how much your service will cost beforehand. They seem to be on par with the industry standard of terrible service and poor practices. They do not do customer comment cards, and it does not seem like they are concerned with service -- because it's your health and you really don't have much of a choice. Arrived: 0920 Not called by: 1000 From desk: Elaine Doctor: Jason Kovac If you don't like the medical industry already, you'll won't like it anymore after coming here.

Pretty awful scheduling. Be prepared to wait. They ask you to arrive 15 mins early, so you can wait more than an hour after your scheduled appt. Then they just change your appt to whenever they want, and if that doesn't work for you, you have to wait 3 months to be seen. Beyond irritated with the way they run this office.
