Don't waste your time. The Oakland, CA EEOC has neither the time nor the enthusiasm to defend your rights. In November 2014 I filed an age discrimination charge against my employer. This charge was filed after two phone interviews with the Oakland EEOC in which I described the details of the discriminatory activity. I was assured that my complaint had merit. My employer responded by hiring an attorney who proceeded to fabricate a scenario in which I lacked competence and had difficulty communicating with my coworkers. I was even accused of using too many slides during my PowerPoint presentations. I heard absolutely nothing from the Oakland EEOC for over TWO YEARS. I was never interviewed by the EEOC and was never allowed to respond to the lies being spun by my employer. Then, out of the blue, after almost two and a half years, I received a letter from the Oakland EEOC. They informed me that they did not have the manpower or resources to investigate this charge and were forwarding it to their Detroit branch. Two weeks later, I received a letter from the Detroit EEOC in which they vindicated my employer and basically told me that I was incompetent. Case closed. I regard the conduct on the part of the EEOC as shocking indifference, laziness and incompetence. BP
