I was leery about going but I couldn't put it off any longer. I was there 15 minutes and took care of my name change. It was a GREAT experience!!! I thought it was going to be like the DMV but it wasn't. It's more of a controlled and faster atmosphere. In and Out!

I wanted to make a simple appointment.  I call the 1 800 number and the recording asks me to give them my social security number over the phone. I don't feel safe doing this, especially with our current president.  I've always been taught to never give personal information to anyone over the phone or internet unless it is encrypted.  

Why can't I just make an appointment over the phone with my local social security office?

Spoke with customer service on the phone and they were speaking as if they don't want to do their job waited 3 and a half hours. Small building, long line. And the website Does not save us time When the website is down.

I spent around an hr and 30min here WITHOUT an appt. I consider that fast since this is a government office, got there at 9:05 there was a long line already but was running fast and got out of there at 10:30, the staff is very kind and professional I was even assisted in my native language (Spanish) which made me feel very comfortable. I felt very satisfied with the service.
