Renovation Needed? The Valley River Inn at first appears extremely charming. Upon a closer examination it is revealed that the hotel needs a major renovation. The rooms are dated and furnished with chipped and worn down pieces. The bedding needs to be completely changed. Hallways are endless and the elevator is at the very least scary. The front desk staff could be much friendlier, they are barely helpful or even acknowledge that a guest is signing in. Work is needed from top down at this hotel.

Valley River Inn has long been an esteemed establishment in Eugene. I remember growing up and having awesome Sunday brunches here but never had the opportunity to stay. After staying here after years of wanting too, I would say it lived up to the hype. The lobby is gorgeous, the brunch is still spectacular and the view on the river is Oregon at its finest. This is an overall great hotel to stay at.

We love that this hotel accepts pets! The staff is very friendly and helpful. We appreciate the special packages offered, though they aren't exceptional deals. However, the hotel itself is aging. It needs updated carpeting, and what happened to having a fridge and microwave in each room? That's considered an extra now? We will return because of the pet policy, but I'll be sure to ask about microwave & refrigerator in room next time.

Positives: The hotel has a nice location next to a mall, lots of restaurants, and a river. The service was friendly. Negatives: We stayed in a suite, however it only had a single queen bed (though I booked a king), no pullout. Bed was uncomfortable. The cleaning service did not change the sheets or vacuum. There were also homeless people camping next to the hotel parking lot. Minor things however, the price was close to $250/night. Water bottles in $250/night suite were $4 a bottle. Decent hotel but would not recommend for price.

We go as a group for breakfast every other week. The food is worth going for alone, but you also get a nice view of the river. There are comfy chairs to sit in by the fireplace where I'm sure you can just enjoy a cocktail with company.
