I think I can safely say that this man is as crooked as the day is long.
I bought a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan from him. Very nice looking car and the price was unbelievable, everything about it seemed to be great. Needless to say we bought it.
Within the first few days we saw that the transmission was leaking but according to the carfax the transmission had been rebuilt less than 3000 miles prior to our purchase, but after the sale from auction, so we took it to the Dodge dealer that did the rebuild and they asked us why the insurance didn't replace the transmission when we had our accident. We said, "What Accident"!! They said the front end collision that cracked the housing on the transmission.
Now we know why the good deal on the van. Considering the difference between the retail price for that model, and his asking price, I can say, in retrospect that there's no way that he didn't know that something big was wrong. 
Of course this is all conjecture on my part so take it for what it's worth.
