It’s a small cute shop! I ordered the brown sugar walnut and toasted marshmallow s’mores flavors, and they together were too sweet for me. The former one actually has brown sugar cubes in it… If you love it it’s gonna be great.
Quaint little ice cream places one of many in NYC. Ordered one scope and got at least three! It was quite rich and filling!
Managed to try this popular artisan ice cream brand in NY! I had the ice cream that’s made with hand-harvested Rishi Tea leaves from Yunnan province. It’s such a pleasant flavour and so enjoyable when eaten with the crunchy rainbow sprinkles!
If you’re not familiar with Van Leeuwen this is for you. It’s my first time trying the ice cream and it was delicious. However, it is too expensive for a ice cream. This two waffle cone ice cream with two scoops cost $18. Which you could buy 2 pints of ice cream at the grocery’s store. This place is super nice and service is pretty good. I got the pistachio ice cream and my BF got two different flavors. The cookies n’ cream and double chocolate fudge I’m not sure but it has a strong dark chocolate taste. Would I recommend this place? YES! Specially this summer to beat the heat.
Their ice cream was ok and the price was around $$, I was drawn to the design of the store and decide to give it a try, which was ok. But I remember during the summer time, I saw a lot of people waiting in line just to get one!
I love Van Leeuwen. Best ice cream in NYC, period! They have the freshest ingredients, a huge variety of flavors from classics like vanilla bean to specials like bourbon cherries jubilee. they also have ice cream bars and a great variety of vegan ice cream. whenever i see pints in stores i always grab one. My all time favorite is Honeycomb.
The Van Leeuwen Ice Cream was just a plain flavor, nothing mor, but nothing less. I ordered cookies and cream, which was just okay. I did notice that there were a lot of “cookies” flavored with Oreo, I think and took up more than 1/5 of the ice cream. Was a little creamy, but tasted similar to the ice cream in Baskin Robbins! +The workers were friendly and gave the ice cream in a quick process : Thanks!
Van Leeuwen is reliably delicious! Good classic flavors plus many amazing vegan options. Earl Gray is usually my favorite go-to. The Brooklyn Black Sugar Chunk is also great with its different bits of cookie dough and nuts in the ice cream that creates a really nice texture and mix of flavors in every bite. The Spring street location is pretty small, so the menu is more limited. I was a bit disappointed that some of the more creative flavors aren’t offered in-store.
Why did I pay $10 for a not even a full pint 14oz of freezer burnt, crunchy iced cream. It was a new seasonal flavor, they clearly are not scooping to order and sand bag a bunch of tubs, you can get the same experience at whole foods.
This is a great place to get ice cream. The flavors were interesting. Tons of options to choose from. I recommend blending vanilla with the Brooklyn brown sugar. This place can get pretty busy since it’s a tiny location. They don’t take cash so make sure you have plastic!
