I had the misfortune of being referred to Sean Donahue for adult strabismus surgery by another Vanderbilt doctor back in 2013. Since then, I've suffered greatly from physical and emotional trauma caused by his surgical malpractice. 

After receiving my full legal medical record from Vanderbilt, I learned that Dr. Donahue allowed a surgical resident at Vanderbilt, Derek Holt, to practice on me without my informed consent after being placed under general anesthesia. I couldn't even get it confirmed through Vanderbilt if Donahue was present at all during my surgery or if he simply allowed Holt to do everything. I'm outraged, as I was never given a choice, and I suffered severe damage to my eye because of it.

I strongly urge everyone to look elsewhere for help if you have strabismus, and I sincerely hope you don't allow your children to suffer the safe fate I did from this cold, callous man.

I am praying  with all my heart that if you are considering strabismus surgery with Sean Donahue that you will read these reviews FIRST!  I refuse to put Dr. in front of his name.  3 years ago now, Sean Donahue left me almost literally blind after an overcorrection of my one good eye being that my left eye is my lazy eye since birth.  He admitted that he had overcorrected it and offered NO HELP.  So basically I paid to have my eyes destroyed.  I took my case to Vanderbilt Patient Services in which of coarse they informed me that the board had made a ruling that he had done nothing wrong.  They consulted no other strabismus doctors that I had to fly to Texas and see.  WAY TO GO Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital!!!!  Taking up for your Doctors that destroy patients vision!  Three years later I am now almost forced to quit my job as an administrative assistant and have no idea how I am going to make a living for the rest of my life.  BTW to anyone whom Donahue has destroyed your vision....... Call an attorney immediately and when they ask the question can your vision be repaired with surgery DO NOT ANSWER THAT QUESTION WITH A YES!!!!  And also get a strabismus Dr. in a bordering state of TN to go to court with you!  When I found out what he had done and wanted my Dr. in Texas to testify to his and Vanderbilt's lies I found this information about the Dr.'s have to be in a bordering state.  Thanks TN Legislature for passing that bill.  Guess TN is protecting their Dr.'s really good that ruin peoples lives!  Please if you would like a incredibly awesome strabismus Doctor for yourself or your child please go to Dr. Melinda Rainey in Austin, TX.  If she would happen to over correct your eyes..... at least she would help you!  So So So sorry that she was NOT able to correct what Donahue did and it I missed the Statute of Limitations to file a lawsuit against him and make him pay for what he has done!!!  He is a monster who doesn't care about anyone and belongs in PRISON!  It's the exact same if your take your car in and pay for someone to destroy it!!  Please let's join together and get Sean Donahue banned from every touching anyone's eyes again.  And better yet, make Vanderbilt PAY for protecting him!  Guess I will have to wait on Jesus to punish him!!!  And the Lord of ALL Lords WILL have His justice and He will help me find a way!!!!!!
