Dr Harris has cared for my Red Lored Amazon for 20 years. I live on the Florida Gulf Coast and drive all the way over to South Miami each year for my little buddy's checkup. Is it cheap? No......because owning an exotic bird is a lifetime commitment and is very complicated......and expensive. Dr. Harris is compassionate and incredibly knowledgeable. He has cared deeply for my beloved avian pet for decades. I feel that I'm uniquely qualified to rate Dr. Harris as excellent, since I've been going to him for 2 decades.

I was there for the health certificate for my dogs traveling. They are professional, responsible and knows what they need to do. Always the best.

I was referred to this clinic because we adopted our dog from the Humane Society of Broward. They have an arrangement with them for a free check up for the first visit. I told them my pet kept itching she brushed him over with a flea comb and said he was fine he didn't have fleas, that some dogs just have skin conditions where they have itchy skin. He continued to itch it was not improving so I took him to my vet in Homestead. My vet looked him over on his stomach and under his armpits where he had a really bad rash because he had some sort of skin infection. The VCA never even looked under his belly or arms. They also said he did not have worms. And when we got home that night his stool was full of long white worms, which my vet also treated because I showed her the picture of the worms. I was supposed to go back to get a humane society arranged free rabies vaccine from them when he was old enough. I left work early because I drive all the way from Homestead, I hit some traffic on the highway and I called to give them a heads up I might be 10 minutes late. They refused to wait even though it was just a rabies vaccine and canceled my appointment. She told me she was going to have to cancel me anyway when I got there because they had two emergencies. If this was true then why didn't they call me beforehand so I wouldn't be wasting the drive, and if it was not true then they simply didn't want to wait 10 minutes to give the puppy a rabies vaccine. I have never worked at a clinic or doctors office where they don't allow a 15 minute grace Period. I explained I was coming from Homestead and I left work early but they did not care. I will never go there again, and I will never refer anyone to the VCA.

If there was no star that's what they would get. I was running late for my dogs appointment I called the clinic to tell them. When I arrived fifteen minutes after my appointment they told me that the doctor wasn't going to see my dog because I was late.These people are very unprofessional, the receptionist were snooty, made me and my wife feel like a lower class of people they seem like they were better than other people. The waiting room was empty there was nobody but us. I think after I told them that I had a No Charge Coupon for first time visit, is why they cancelled my dog's appointment. This tells me these people are only in it for the money and not for the welfare of the animals. Very disappointing that business today have no care for their customers. I would not recommend going to VCA South Dade Animal Hospital because with then you have to be perfect, they must live in a perfect world.
