Vermont Furniture Designs is a manufacturer of heirloom quality hardwood furniture near Burlington, VT. We have a factory store open to the public in Winooski.

Story

On January 1, 2017 longtime employees Adam Blaisdell and Rob Bachand purchased the company from original owner/founder Arthur Weitzenfeld. The new owners both honed their craft through many years of being an integral part in growing Vermont Furniture Designs into what it is today. Adam and Rob plan to continue producing the beautiful and time less heirloom quality furniture the company is known for throughout the country.

The duo has also launched Vermont Handcrafted Furniture. This is a new company under the Vermont Furniture Designs umbrella that will push the boundaries of style and design into uncharted territory. Live edge offerings, built-ins, custom pieces, and collaborations with local stone masons/metal workers are all on the table. By diversifying in this way, Vermont Handcrafted Furniture is sure to take Adam, Rob, and their highly skilled crew of craftspeople on many exciting new adventures!

I have an 8-drawer cherry Burlington Dresser, and it is my most prized piece of furniture, most certainly a family heirloom.  The oil finish is velvet-like and rich.  In the 12 years I've owned it, I've oiled it once (which was easy), and it looks amazing (we live in So Cal, very dry climate).  I love VFD pieces, they are all incredible.

I purchased a king size bed frame.  The wood is beautiful and it is solid.  The king size bed had a single wood support leg in the center of the bed that attached to the center support.  The design of this was poor as the leg immediately fell out of alignment and was useless. The company was responsive in terms of trying to rectify this, but it is clearly a design flaw if you purchase this size bed. They sent a replacement support beam which did not line up for the slats to sit flat. I finally rigged the three support legs that they sent out to the replacement beam which is sitting free under the bed and I screwed into the slats.  The mattress as a results sits up too high and the beautiful headboard is now half hidden.  I had to hire someone to help me pull the bed apart each time to fix this since I didn't have the tools and it was too much to do myself.  While what I have now is adequate this was far too much time and effort to have an somewhat satisfactory result- barring that the frame does not look as it should.  This was the skyline model and may have been a design flaw, so other models may not have the problems that I had.  I would have hoped that the company would have ultimately been more involved that I was fully satisfied, but that are really more concerned w/ the manufacturing to their vendors and less involved w/ customers.

Bought a house and decided a dining table was the most meaningful piece of furniture to invest in.  Vermont Furniture Designs delivered in every way. Locally made, with great customer service.  We met a new neighbor who was also on the staff.  We now have our dream table that will be with us forever, and it is exactly as we imagined it.  Can't recommend Vermont Furniture Designs enough.
