A very unique look at the history of a once great industry. It's beautiful and yet sad when thinking about how an industry transformed a sleepy location into a mining power house, only to leave behind a charming and sleepy town. It's the story of many post industrial cities. The museum is quite interesting and offers quite a bit to see. It's a nice way to spend the afternoon, whether passing though or not. The low price of admission is definitely worth it and you might even find yourself buying a peice of marble art or other gifts in the souvenir shop.

I was a bit disappointed. I think I expected to see a lot more about the process of mining marble. What I found was a lot of sculpted marble (side question: why does the hall pf Presidents stop at George H.W. Bush?), a lot of information about the monument that was created for the tomb of the unknowns in Washington, DC, and a collection of marble from around the world that looked more like a kitchen and bath showroom.
