We took our 1.5 year old puppy to the Veterinary Emergency Group for vomiting. Our regular vet was closed because it was the weekend. We told the staff and Dr. Lewis immediately upon walking in about our dog's medical history, which they noted on their records. I signed a waiver opting for Dr. Lewis to discuss any treatments with me before administering them. Dr. Lewis ended up administering an injection for the vomiting that was highly incompatible with our dog's medical condition and it caused serious damage to our dog. What makes it even worse is that Dr. Lewis did this without notifying us first! Also, our regular veterinarian told us that most vets should know that this injection is incompatible with our dog's condition, especially considering we told them about it and they noted it in their records immediately upon us walking in the door. As a result of this negligent treatment, Our dog had a recurrence of her disease, which had been in remission until we came to the Veterinary Emergency Group. Our dog was subsequently hospitalized for over two weeks and required 24 blood transfusions, all for a 10 pound dog!! Her hospitalization cost us over $11,000. This could have all been avoided had Dr. Lewis and the Veterinary Emergency Group done their job and actually disclosed their treatments to us before treating our dog and checking their prescription treatments with the dog's medical history, as required by the New York State Guidelines for Professional Conduct. Visiting the Veterinary Emergency Group was perhaps the worst mistake we have ever made. It cost us 11,000 and almost the life of our dog. Our dog will be on steroids for the next 10 months and her quality of life is not close to what it was before this recurrence. Thank you Veterinary Emergency Group and Dr. Lewis.. This is perhaps the worst animal hospital out there.

They were wonderfully compassionate when our cat died of old age, made a clay paw print of our dear friend and a condolence card along with her ashes. It meant a great deal at a very difficult time!
