A Little History:
Villa Basque Café is a quaint and unique restaurant located in Carson City, Nevada. The café was founded by locals Pete and Martha Coscarart over 17 years ago and offers patrons a fascinating look into Basque culture and an exceptional dining experience.
As a teenager, Pete came to Nevada without knowing any English to work as a sheep herder. Along his journey, Pete developed a desire to share his talents and culture with others. Pete began crafting Basque Chorizo, a type of sausage from the border region of Spain and France, from his family’s traditional recipe in Battle Mountain, Nevada in 1984.
Eventually, this love of his culture, family and traditions inspired him to offer his Chorizo to the public and he opened Villa Basque Café with Martha. Today, “Pete’s World Famous Chorizo” is available at the café in numerous authentic Basque dishes and for take-home in the deli counter—perfect for grilling! Not to be outdone, Martha hand crafts an assortment of Mexican Tamales including: pork, chicken, chorizo and sweet tamales for the holidays.
Villa Basque Café offers patrons an extensive breakfast and lunch menu rich in Basque, Mexican and American dining options. The meals are hearty, rich, and flavorful and served by people as unique and engaging as the dishes themselves. Villa Basque Café works hard to ensure that only the freshest and finest ingredients go into each and every culinary delight. Orange, carrot and grapefruit juice is freshly squeezed before your eyes! Portions are large, satisfying and affordable.
Traditional American breakfast and lunch items include omelets, biscuits and gravy, sandwiches, burgers, and a huge assortment of healthy salads. If Mexican is more your liking, try one of many south of the border treats like: enchiladas, tacos, carnitas or fajitas. Take a break from the ordinary and try one of the many Basque culinary favorites available on the menu. From the paella to the roasted lamb, and the Sheepher Cheeseburger to the home made Basque chili, these traditional Basque dishes are different and delicious. And, of course, don’t forget about the Chorizo…yes, the Chorizo. With so many dishes, there is something for virtually every palate.
