Story

The staff of Village Gate Animal Hospital & Pet Resort sees our pets as members of our families. We believe our pets deserve the best care and should be treated with love and dignity. This is why we treat your pet as a cherished member of the family. We get excited to hold your kitten or feed treats to your puppy and we worry – just like you do – if your pet is not feeling well. Luckily, we have the expertise and tools to help them!

Village Gate Animal Hospital & Pet Resort is as unique as your pet. We get to know our clients and patients on a personal level to provide tailor made care. With nose to tail physical exams and plenty of time to talk about keeping your pet feeling great, we can create a diet plan, discuss the latest allergy treatments or find comfort from age related changes such as arthritis.

One visit and I'm hooked. They were simultaneously understanding of my dog's limited medical records while still passionate about her care. Her condition was taken care of with attention to detail as well as plenty of cuddles. Poppy is a happy, healthy dog once more thanks to Village Gate. Thanks so much!

Just love this one stop shop for our dog. The Vets are genuine and good at what they do. The day care is great and has the best rates of the places we looked into. Tired dogs are happy dogs.

We are in the process of moving and needed to find a new vet. My male 2 year old cat Finlay, has some serious anxiety issues and doesn't do well with strangers. And though he was still shy and a little skittish he did 10 x's better than I could have imagined and I have to say it was due to the calm atmosphere and friendly staff here. We also love our new Vet, Dr. Rieck, and are bringing our 4 year old cat, Stella, in for her checkup in 2 weeks as well. Also I have to say that having weekend hours is amazing since I have a Monday - Friday 8-5 job that doesn't allow much wiggle room for weekly hours that most vet offices offer.

I will never trust this place with a pet again.

Our dog had a cough for a few days so we took her in. They looked at her throat, listened to her lungs and gave us some antibiotics. 

After being on the antibiotics for about a week, she wasn't getting better. We took her back in and they looked at her throat, told us the same thing, gave us more antibiotics. 

Another two weeks go by, things got worse. She'd stopped eating, she'd lost a lot of weight and all of her strength. We took her back in. More of the same. Not once did they think to do blood work or an x-ray. Just "It's a cold, it'll go away".

Things continued to get worse so we decided to take her down the street to 5th and Kenny for a second opinion, where they immediately thought it was a good idea to do blood work and an X-ray. Her cell count was obscene, and her X-ray showed that her lungs had something very wrong. We were referred to MedVet, where MedVet immediately found that she had an auto-immune disease. We stopped the anti-biotics and put her on steriods. After a few weeks of steroids she's now doing great. Cough is gone, she's regained her weight and is full of energy.

I understand sometimes things can get missed, but when someone calls and comes in several times because things are not getting better, the solution is not to keep doing more of the same. Our dog could have died because of their pure negligence. She's healthy now, but I do wish we could get the hundreds of dollars we spent here back.

We're very appreciative to 5th and Kenny and MedVet for taking the matter seriously and are taking all future business to 5th and Kenny.

We had been bringing our dog here for boarding the past 6 months. Last time I was there to pick up our pup, the waiting area smelled strongly of urine and the floor was dirty and needed mopped. (The dirty floor looked and smelled like it was from repeated animal waste that had not been cleaned up properly.) When our dog was brought out to us, he smelled so bad of waste that we had to roll the windows down to get him home. This is not normal for a kennel, obviously unsanitary and tells us that they likely did not hose down the runs to clean up the waste. Very disappointed as our experience here in the past had been good.
