I walked in and was told I was late although I had appt card for 330. Gloria was rude and disrespectful I have been coming here for many years and have never been late and after coming 50 miles running into a bad accident I didn't need this. Then dr carelton rushed me through the visit then I had labs and a shot. I felt rushed everywhere Is this the way you treat patient? This should be addressed so no one else is treated this way It's been a week and still have not received new prescription.
This practice is the strangest thing I've encountered in the medical field. Dr Carleton was great. He listened, he cared about my quality of life. I couldn't have asked for a better doctor to take care of me during my initial diagnosis. But nearly everyone else in that office is horrible. Unprofessional. Nasty attitudes. I can understand someone might have a bad day or two, but I was seeing him for a little over a year and every single time the front desk ladies were nasty. The nurse taking my vitals acted like she'd rather be anywhere else than there. The young lady that drew blood was the closest thing to a "normal" person in that office and she still left some to be desired. So, after a little over a year of seeing Dr Carleton, I just couldn't take his staff any longer. I sought out a new rheumatologist in the Charlottesville area a year ago. I don't think she's as good a doctor as Carleton, but I'll take that little bit of a downgrade for the HUGE upgrade in customer service from her staff.
My wife had an appointment that she was running late for and when trying to call at 830 when the office opens the phones did not roll over until 842. We spoke to a rep by the name of Gloria and from the first time she picked up the phone she was unprofessional. Gloria was talking to someone else before putting us on hold for 5 minutes. When she got back to the phone she explained that the policy and procedures which was understood but she began to become very annoyed with our questions and concerns lately after. She cut in front of my wife saying what times she could come in instead of trying to listen to what my wife was trying to say in reference to the miscommunication with the staff when making the appointment. My wife asked to speak with the office manager. Debbie the manager was exactly like Gloria and instead of hearing the concern about how rude she was and that the phones didn't roll over on time she made it a point to say "Whether the phones rolled over or not you are not going to be able to see the doctor today." My wife tried to explain that the conversation was not about the appointment it was about a rude and disrespectful staff member. Debbie didn't want to hear what my wife was saying at all and kept saying she sounded as if she was getting upset. My wife never once raised her voice but of course she was frustrated with the lack of professionalism at this office. Debbie then told my wife that if she is so dissatisfied with their services then maybe she should find a rheumatologist elsewhere. That was really hurtful. My wife cried after hanging up with her. Debbie doesn't know my wife's situation and based on her current health she doesn't need the extra stress. That hurt us both when she asked her to find another location. We have been waiting for a while to see this appointment. Hopefully others get better treatment and I pray this situation is addressed.
I told the receptionist on the phone several times what insurance I have, she said they accepted both policies. After I had traveled an hour just to get to the office I came in for my appointment the receptionist was very rude, stating they did not take my secondary insurance and the receptionist that I spoke to on the phone put a completely different plan in the notes that I did not even have. They did not even offer if I wanted to use my primary insurance or not especially after the receptionist asked me if I wanted my new patient paper work back LOL
This has been my third doctor and I've had rheumatoid arthritis since I was a teenager. I'm 33 years old now and I'm at my best. I appreciate the understanding caring staff and for once I feel like I'm heard instead of just being treated like another patient. Thank you all for all you do! Don't forget to keep your chin up.
Everyone I came in contact with was joyful, helpful and friendly, Dr Maestrello took a long time talking to me to figure out the right way to proceed with treatment, didn't feel rushed at all. Overall a great experience and the people seemed to actually care. I would definitely recommend them.
Dr Carleton is the best. I have never been in there longer than 30 minutes. Check in, see Claire, Dr C , bloodwork and out the door.
