YUM! Food had so much flavor. We got the Voodoo burgers and the home made sauce was great. French fries had a seasoning that made them way better than regular fries. Wings were good as well. Only one critique, the drinks need more ice. Other than that we loved it!
First time here and I was impressed. Homemade buns, fresh ground beef, and tasty toppings, plus the fries are seasoned. Next time I'll have to get the sweet potato fries and green chile on the burger. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options: They offer a black bean "burger" as well.
Pros: The food was really good! I was a big fan of Jake's Cafe, so I went in with great expectations—I was not disappointed. The buns on the burger were amazing! Slightly toasted, so they didn't get soggy from the patty or condiments. I could stand the Sweet potato fries to be a little crispier, but they were still delicious. Cons: - It was definitely pricier than I wanted. Burger, fries, and drink was like $18 before tax & tip. I don't think it even cost this much back at Jake's, so I was a little surprised. - Atmosphere is kind of bland and sterile. - The service was sloooow! There was only one server, and it seemed like only one cook on the grill. In combination with the lunch crowd, it took forever to get our food. I don't know if it's usually like this, or if I just ran into the perfect storm of busyness and them being short-staffed. I will say, though, that the waitress was very kind, kept a cool head, and worked very hard amongst a bunch of hungry, impatient people.
Decided to try Voodoo Burgers today and boy was I surprised! The excellent customer service from the wait staff was pleasant even with the larger groups in the restaurant. The food is a standard smash burger that was seasoned perfectly, with a side of fries. The only real negative was I had some difficulty finding it.
Juicy, warm, flavorful patties on a soft like a cloud bun! Buns made in house. Sweet potato fries were delicious! Friendly staff... i rolled out of there I was so full . Support local spots! I'm telling everyone
Burger was decent probably the only thing I semi enjoyed about the experience! Walked into a dining room in disarray was told to sit anywhere the first 2 tables we tried were dirty had not been cleaned yet with food on the floor after finding a clean table and sitting down we were handed menus that were 3/4 blacked out of things that were unavailable. Then when ordering our burgers they were out of addition items such as bacon. I did however make a request for some green chili cheese tots and was advised they could accommodate that and as I’ve been a long time customer and fan of Jakes the owners and chefs establishments I would have to say when I got my meal to see a pile of tater tops with unmelted shredded cheese and wet chopped green chili making them soggy and inedible I was very disappointed with the quality and lack of pride in the food that when at jake cafe the former restaurant was presented at a much higher Standard. I spent $32 and it saddens me to say that I don’t think I’ll be spending anymore time or money at this new place.
We wondered why the server didnt ask for a temp on the burger. Very thin burger for 9 bucks. Asked for grilled onions and recieved a very curt "no". There is a small buffet table with L, T and O in middle of the dining room. The burger did have good flavor and the bun was good. Would not go out of my way to go here. PS. One poster from New Orleans on bare walls is just sad.
Absolutely excellent burger, and I mean excellent. The brioche bun is phenomenal and chewy and crispy all at the same time. The cheese was abundant with burnt cheese bits. The green chiles added a nice flavor without being overwhelming. I'm holding back a star because the tator tots were slightly greasy and some of my fries were pretty soggy. Overall, worth a try for sure. The burgers are stellar, the sides could use small tweaks. Waitress was nice.
The voodoo burger was quite good and when in the mood for a spicy, messy burger, i will gladly order it again. The menu at Voodoo Burgers was extremely limited. Too limited, pretty much four burgers to choose from and french fries or tater tots. If someone in my party wanted something other than a burger and fried potatoes, they would have to go to one of the neighboring restaurants such as K Bowl, Santorinis, Mateos or The Game. On my next visit, i will also ask for a fork and knife to reduce the number of napkins I use. The price for the burger was also quite steep at $12. The interior was stark and as I walked in the restaurant, my shoes stuck to the floor. Additional mopping with a degreaser is needed. All in all, a good burger but lacking in most every other area.
In reviewing the past reviews, I would say they have addressed nearly everything I see complaints about. As regulars of Jake's, we finally made it over to VooDoo today. I had the VooDoo Burger and you can tell they took some time to get the blend of flavors just right. It starts with a homemade bun with just a hint of sweetness. Add two thin, but good burger patties with a bit of the crispy edge. Next comes cheese and green chile. I've always been a fan of Jake's green chile, and this was the same. But the VooDoo sauce...wow! I tried it on my tater tot first, and it nearly knocked my socks off! But in the burger, it just adds that bit of extra kick, and made it all come together as a fantastic burger. This made me very happy because the double Jake's burger was my favorite in town. I got a side of tater tots, and they were done perfectly. Too hot to eat when they first came out, but we still managed. There was one server and we were the only table for a few minutes. But by the time we left, the dining room was almost full, and she was doing a great job of handling everybody. We will definitely be back.
