Vortex Spring

About

Vortex Spring is a freshwater dive, swim and camping resort located in beautiful Northwest Florida. A unique Florida gem open all four seasons.

Story

Vortex Spring is the premier inland Florida dive resort on the Gulf Coast & the largest diving facility in the state. Since 1972 Vortex has been recognized as one of the best & safest diving destinations in the U.S. This Panhandle diver paradise is "the Mecca of dive training" says Southern Diver Magazine. Northern Florida has a crown jewel in this treasure that offers a diving class for every level of SCUBA training which is scheduled at your convenience. Every open water certified diver gets a superior adventure, and Vortex offers cavern and cave diving for certified cavern and cave divers. Vortex offers professional instructors, clear visibility & diving 364 days a year.

Vortex is a top ranked training facility and offers SCUBA diving training at any level. Great course prices are only the beginning. Vortex offers a weed free, clear spring dive. Wildlife is abundant and approachable. Some of our fish are record-size. Entry and exits are assisted by strong docks with stairs to aid in managing SCUBA equipment. If you have special needs, be sure to let us know. We have successfully trained SCUBA students with major physical challenges as well as serious water fear issues.

Vortex Spring produces 28 million gallons of crystal clear water daily at a year-round temperature of 68 degrees with no thermocline. It is one of Mother Nature's most extraordinary creations! Vortex waters flow out to create "Blue Creek," an excellent opportunity for photos while snorkeling &/or canoeing. Blue Creek flows over one half mile before entering another northern Florida waterway. Vortex provides drinking water to surrounding communities and has been used for emergency firefighting needs.

I found this place by accident, because my dogs weren't welcome at Morrison Springs. But these people welcomed us and turned our frown upside down. What a great day! Diving! Swimming! Slides! Camping! Charming people! This place is definitely in my top 5 accidental discoveries. The world should know, people should stop here.😀

Great fun with my family in REALLY cold water. Loved it! Today was my first time back here in over 20 years. Lots of changes. All good. Last time I was here, the cost was $1 per carload. My family and I WILL be back! Thank ya!!

Cool place to check out. Large pond formed by a cold natural spring with diving options. The pond then opens up to a river that winds through the park. You can swim, kayak, slide, or swing your way down the river. Super cold water so make sure it is a hot day before you go.

If you want a peaceful camping experience, this is NOT the place for you. However, if being loud, drunk & obnoxious are more your style then come on out for a great time! If you have small children with you as I did, be sure to bring ear plugs unless you want them to take home a multitude of four letter gems along with their sunburn. Perhaps the primitive sites would have been a quieter choice, but we'll not be back to know for sure.

Rating as a recreational scuba destination only - not for camping or swimming which I haven't done at Vortex. Very good for scuba training as it doesn't flood and is almost always open. Not a lot to see without being a cave diver otherwise and is often very crowded with dive training on weekends.
