Story

Weinkeller is a new, casually upscale restaurant that's created a fresh way to wine and dine in Niagara Falls, Canada. The one-of-a-kind Canadian restaurant features a customizable prix fixe menu with a seasonal twist, a select assortment of local and international wines and several house brands made right on the premises – open since September 2013.

We welcome a casually upscale crowd with an atmosphere that boasts a luxurious and easy going west coast feel, Weinkeller is the first of its kind within Canadian borders (5633 Victoria Avenue, in the heart of the Clifton Hill Tourist District in Niagara Falls, Ontario) to incorporate a craft winery inside the restaurant space.

Weinkeller’s space is intimate and the additions of the craft house winery, in-house coffee roaster and private dining room for 16 showcase what Weinkeller has to offer tourists and local Niagara Falls residents. The ‘Weinkeller experience’ will make any visit one to remember.

Chef Stuart Mena has crafted the affordable prix fixe menu (a choice of a three or five course meal, featuring seasonal favourites) from local fresh food suppliers, which is enhanced by coupling with Weinkeller brands and collection of international and Canadian wine choices.

Unfortunately after seeing the good reviews for this restaurant, me and my friends did not have a good experience. As soon as we walked into the restaurant the host asked if we had a reservation, we told him we didn’t. He responded with a dry “ reservations only”. We have all worked in the industry, we understood it was a Saturday night but we were polite and understanding and just expected the same. After he dismissed us my friend had to fix her sandal so for a brief moment she bent down to fix it outside of the restaurant next to the ledge of the very low windows. The host stormed out of the restaurant and told her not to sit on the ledge as there were costumers on the other side. He was not only rude about it but on the other side of window there were no tables, only the hostess stand. My friend apologized and just said she was fixing her shoe, which she did in about 20 seconds. From working at high end restaurants in Downtown Toronto, me and my 3 other friends just expected at least respectful service. It’s understandable that it’s a busy place but that doesn’t mean you have to look down at people. Perhaps he was a racist and just didn’t like us because we all belong to minority groups. 10/08/2017.

I love this restaurant. The service is impeccable.  Our waiter, Connor, was attentive, friendly, and he has a great sense of humor. The manager values his business and it shows. He greeted us at the door and checked in with us through the night to ensure we enjoyed our meals.  I can sense that he deeply cares about each customer's experience. I had the blackened salmon and my partner had the pork chop dish. Both were AMAZING!  Oh and the fried goat cheese will change your freaking life. Love their three course or five course menu options that allow you to substitute alcohol, if you wish.  The chef even walks around and asked each table how they like their meal. FIRST RATE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! We will certainly return to this gen of a restaurant when we are in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

We would recommend taking time away from all the tourist chaos to settle in to an exquisite meal here. Everyone was exceptionally pleasant and courteous to us during our evening. Considering the prices of all the other restaurants (that are clearly a rip off) I had no issues with the cost of this dinner for my partner and I. The fresh ingredients and amazing flavors are well worth the experience. I can't thank them enough for helping us end our honeymoon with such a delightful evening.

The food was fantastic, and the menu was very creative. The meat and cheese board was pretty exceptional, and the cheesecake dessert was one of the best desserts I've had. The atmosphere is dimly lit, which makes for a fairly romantic setting. My biggest gripe about this place was that the service was so incredibly slow. We went during pride parade (so it was less busy than usual in Niagara), and we often had to make multiple requests for the same item(s) because service just wasn't attentive. It took us a little over two hours from when we entered to when we left, and most of that was downtime spent waiting.

I ate there over a month ago and I’m still recommending it.  The food is perfect.  The atmosphere is comfy, cozy.  The service is top notch.
