Story

Dr. Kevin Wells, OD, FAAO*, Diplomate, American Board of Optometry, has been in practice for 16 years and was voted by his peers in 2006 as Young Optometrist of the Year for the State of Oklahoma. He leaves a pioneering laser vision correction practice in Oklahoma. He resides in Destin with his wife and two daughters Gabrielle and Alexandra.
Dr. Wells was recently published in the Journal of the American Optometric Association, Vol. 82, No. 8.

Wells Vision has an efficient, caring and professional staff. The location and facility are new and inviting.  Dr. Wells is equipped with state of the art eye equipment and a great bedside manor. Lots of resources for eye specialists  and large eye glass frame selection. Our family of five are all patients. Highly recommend Dr. Well's and Wells Vision and Laser Eye Center.

My fiancé and I both were patients and also got LASIK. We are both very satisfied with our results, and DR. Wells is very professional and personable. If you’re looking for an eye doctor you can trust, and will listen to your concerns, look no further.

Experience with these guys as a tri-care prime member was absolutely awful. Make sure you ask specific questions regarding the coverage, they will make it seem like The services are free but actually just the consultation is covered!!!!

The staff is so nice and helpful... I needed to get some more contacts while on vacation - I turned up and they had them ready for me at the desk.

First off, not sure if Dr. Wells was having a bad day but he was not rude but not kind either. He just seemed hurried and ready to get my eye exam over with. I guess once he knew I was not going to spend alot of money, I was not the highest priority at this point. 

If you have Tricare be aware of this: 
Went in for an eye exam and some contacts. Left without contacts, because the cost of the exam was over $400 upfront. After you are in the door, they explain that they charge for a lens fitting fee (which I have worked as an optician, and I have been wearing the exact same brand and prescription for 10+ years). Fitting fees are nice if your prescription changes, but since mine is stable (I would rather just take the gamble of not paying this fee).  I had to forcefully say that I did not want to change my contact brand. Still charged over $400. They tried to put me into another brand and I just said no.

 I ended up leaving and buying contacts online. When the company I ordered the contacts through contacted them to verify the prescription, Wells Vision immediantly called me, explaining that they can come down on the price if I want to go through them instead of the other company. This is a nice gesture, but why don't you just tell customers this in the first place? That you price match. Telling me afterwards feels like you guys are trying your little scam artist stuff again. (Just like you did with the eye exam). 

To alleviate this problem, try to explain to new customers (while they are booking the appointment over the phone) the upfront cost. Explain how much things GENERALLY cost with such and such plan (Tricare). 

The front desk staff was really nice, but I just wish they could understand the shock of paying $400 when you don't expect that amount. I was prepared for $200-300 but $400 plus the cost of contacts--- I bought the year supply offline for $110.
