Story

Western Wyoming Community College (WWCC) is a two year college located in Rock Springs, Wyoming. WWCC offers various one year certificates, numerous two year associate degrees, and some four year degrees in cooperation with the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming. The college students are known as the Mustangs.

The campus itself is quite unique, owing to the harsh winters all of the main college is indoors, connected via hallways. Since the local area is home to many dinosaur fossil finds, there are reproductions of various dinosaur skeletons in public areas of the college.

Mission

Western's fundamental purpose is to provide high quality learning opportunities to students who are at various stages of life and have differing needs and expectations. Committed to quality and success, Western encourages flexibility, innovation, and active learning for students, faculty and staff. The College understands that learning occurs inside and outside the classroom and, therefore, seeks to create an environment where lifelong learning is encouraged and where students and employees interact in an atmosphere of mutual respect.

I studied Respiratory Therapy here with some of the best people I ever met. Fond memories. Graduated with a 4.0 average. Great school for kids who want to stay near home for first two years of college. Parents can save a bundle while kids get accustomed to early adult life.

Online programs use outdated "Blackboard" software that is continually down. Also online classes are much more expensive, with books might cost $800 or more, just not very impressive compared to programs like ASU. Also, there didn't seem like there was any entrance or career counseling available. I know Wyoming is desolate and decimated but it seems like you are completely on your own. Everyone I tried to call in the months before classes was on vacation or something. When you try to call instructors or have a problem with an assignment you are stuck, you realize you are completely on your own.

Highly recommend WWCC, I’ve been so impressed with everyone I’ve ever interacted with, they’ve been helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. Go Mustangs!

Small college atmosphere with a big time academic reputation. My son has taken a few classes at WWCC while still in high school. The college does so much for the Rock Springs community!

I went here for two years and I loved it! Small campus with people from all over the world. They have great chemical and petroleum engineering programs.
