We are a family owned grocery store in Lansing, Michigan. Formally known as Mike's Shop-Rite, we have been in business since 1921. Originally opened at 322 N. Washington Ave. by Michael Wickenhiser Sr., the store outgrew the original location was relocated to what was the "suburbs" at the time in front of the Groesbeck neighborhood in 1957. We've been a proud member of the Groesbeck neighborhood ever since! Gerald Westlund started working for Mike Wickenhiser Jr. in 1960 and in 1986 when Mike Jr wanted to retire, Jerry and his wife bought the store from him. Jerry and Diane Westlund continued to run the store as Mike's until 1998 when the store was remodeled and renamed to WESTLUND'S APPLE MARKET. Jerry continued to run Westlund's Apple Market until his death in 2007. His children inherited the store and now his son, Tim Westlund, is in charge.
