Story

Yes it's true: This is the original Whistle Stop Cafe from the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes" (1991). The store was rented out for a while as a timber consultant/real estate office and then as an antique shop before the filming of "Fried Green Tomatoes". The store played a major role as "The Whistle Stop Cafe". After the filming, Robert Williams, who had inherited the building, decided to make it into a real cafe and formed a partnership with friend Jerie Lynn Williams. Together they started the "Original Whistle Stop Cafe."

Very fun!   The cafe itself is just like walking into the movie.  The food was good and served quickly.   We didn't feel rushed even though we were there near closing time.   Their hours are limited and we had to delay out trip south by a day to be there during their operating hours.   It was worth the delay since we really wanted to see the location and, if course,  eat some fried green tomatoes and drink some sweet tea. 
The shops that are nearby were fun to look at but not worth the trip on their own.

The service was great.  The fried green tomatoes weren't anything special.  The dipping sauce had a strange taste.  Husband said burger was really good.  My chicken was dry. Apple dumpling was the best thing there, it was great!   Lunch cost us close to 50 dollars.  It was all old...remnants of the movie.

Definitely would recommend going here! The BEST burger I've ever eaten!! I still remember it vividly.
Not very much seating room so obviously a long wait time. But I ordered my food and sat outside on the picnic table, and there happened to be a train go by too while eating. Very cool!

Worth going! Juliet is small, quaint, but it has spirit and a lot to photograph. They have managed to keep a alive thanks to the Whistle Stop but it is really quite whimsical. Very cute. MUST go . And yes get the FGT's, of course.

Fried Green Tomatoes DUH! Even many years later, this place is always cool to visit. If you are reading this review then you probably already know of this place and what it's about. Just walking in this restaurant, the vibe and architecture of days past takes you back. Food is always fresh and affordable. If you have never been, this place a cool weekend lunch stop.
