We're Montana's largest credit union with seven branches serving our more than 58,000 members. Visit us online at whitefishcu.com.

Story

It’s important to know a little something of our history to get a true sense of what Whitefish Credit Union carries with it into the future. Whitefish Credit Union was state chartered in 1934, in the midst of the Great Depression, when five Whitefish area railroad employees contributed $5 each. Yep - total assets were $25. That's a pretty modest beginning. Since then Whitefish Credit Union has become Montana's largest Credit Union with over $1 billion in assets. A solid foundation was established by those who came before us and a financially sound and fiscally conservative approach has served all of us very well. Whitefish Credit Union members benefit from some of the highest dividend rates in the nation and lending money to our friends and neighbors is one of our primary reasons for operating. We love to do it, and we do it well.

Like all of us, Whitefish Credit Union is looking toward the future. How do we make our small town values align with the fast paced lifestyle that many of us are currently living? Our solution is to maintain the "old school" services and to incorporate up to date technologies that many of us have come to expect and rely on. So, if you need to speak with someone, just call or come by. We're happy to help. But if you're on the go and need information at the speed of light — call our automated phone teller at 877-928-8357. She's our newest "employee" and she isn't afraid of long work days. ATM's are on their way to our offices in Whitefish, Kalispell, and Polson, and now you can find us on the world wide web. All of these options will offer 24/7 access to our members accounts.

Mission

There's a pretty big difference between Main Street in Northwest Montana and Wall Street in New York City. And those differences aren't just geographic. There's a definite mind set that goes with our Montana sky line - it's wide open, uncomplicated, and honest. At your Whitefish Credit Union, we handle your finances with the same attitude. We're not trying to be edgy or trendy, and we're definitely not out to play a shell game with your financial future. We're here to offer you the same safe and sound financial services that have brought us where we are today; the largest Credit Union in Montana with over a billion dollars in assets! And it all started in 1934 with five railroaders with five dollars each - that's pretty uncomplicated.

Come in to any of our offices. Take a look around and see for yourself, we're wide open, uncomplicated and honest. Just like the Montana sky line. And that's about a million miles from Wall Street. If you're like us, you're happy about that!

The service we have received from Whitefish Credit Union has been top notch every step of the way. We recently financed our home through them & Kyle Elliott made the process much easier than we anticipated. They have a small town warm vibe, yet are professional & all business when it’s time to close. I would recommend Whitefish Credit Union to anyone who is looking for no nonsense banking.
Do not care for Whitefish credit union. You hear all the great benefits of a credit union, don't believe any of it. I get far better customer service and benefits from Wells Fargo. I closed all my accounts with Whitefish credit union. Had enough of them.
I had high hopes for WCU but unfortunately the experience the past few years hasn't been as expected. If you think as a credit union they'll treat you more fairly than a big bank you may be disappointed. Don't assume you'll get a better mortgage rate or their online banking has the same functionality/controls you may be accustomed. For example, they don't offer simple things like auto-draft protection. I was charged two overdraft fees, and even though I corrected immediately, had plenty in my WCU saving account, and it was the first time, they agreed to reimburse just one of them. Surprising, considering last year I paid them over 12K in mortgage interest on my WCU loan.
Had a FANTASTIC experience working with Whitefish Credit Union--we couldn't have asked for a better team to help us through the process of buying a first home. Toby, Chris, and the rest of the staff were communicative, supportive, organized, and friendly throughout the process, and we're excited to bank with them going forward. Highly recommend!
They just built a giant multi million dollar branch but can’t build a drive up window? We have to play super Mario bros with the tubes every time? Not open on saturdays, refuse to give out starter checks, hidden fees, mail fees, terrible hours. Literally everything about banks that we hate. Isn’t that why credit unions formed? You’re just another big bank.
I received a check from out of state from a partner credit union. I called ahead of time to make sure that I would be able to cash the check at Whitefish Credit union. The person I spoke with explicitly stated that I, would indeed be able to cash the check. We discussed the amount and he even checked with his manager. I drove in from 30 miles out of town only to be told that they would not honor the check. Furthermore, both branches that I went to, I was treated with rudeness. The man that I spoke with on the phone was behind the teller counter and wouldn’t even make eye contact with me when I gave his name to the other teller. This experience alone has cemented any possibility that I will ever do ANY business with this company.
Horrible bank and horrible customer service. They will not honor any security you ask them for eith your account. They willy nilly cash your checks depending on how that persons day is going and not based upon your account. I do not recommend if you like top have access to your money or not be treated like a criminal for no reason. They are also very lazy, lobby doesn't open until 9 with exception to the drive thru and close at 4, and not only that but even direct deposits take forever just because they only want to work on them twice a day... Laziness!
Applied for an auto loan and was told they would call me on 4/18/17 if I got it or not. Haven't heard anything. I like this bank and not sure why they are taking so long to call about my status. That is why you are getting 2 stars. Sincerely Sam
We have savings, checking, and loans with Whitefish Credit Union. Always great customer service. Easy access and transferring between accounts from their website.
I have banked with a few other banks in the valley and recently consolidated it all to WFCU because they beat everyone on rates, great services offered there too. Really a community partner.
