The food were great, service was quick, and attentive. Seafood were fresh, reasonably priced. The place inside is small compared to other restaurant in the same area. But they have outside seating, good depending on the weather. Parking is difficult. We had clam chowder, clam pasta, and Today's special Ahi.Food: 5/5
This restaurant was chosen for the birthday celebration of my dear friend who was turning 91, and while the location and view of the ocean and Morro Rock were fabulous, the food quality was only mediocre. Servings were small, and while the drinks were pretty and enticing, they were expensive for the size and amount of alcohol involved. I ordered a salad $16 and the soup of the day, which was good but came with one crouton in the middle and no sides of bread, breadsticks, etc. for about $15. There were no issues with service as the place was virtually empty when we arrived and only a few tables full when we left. One final observation…not sure about the cleanliness of their kitchen but the wine cabinets in the dining areas are in desperate need of dusting and the women’s bathroom is not accommodating for older women. The one toilet had a riser on it that wasn’t secured safely and the other was so low child height that an older person could not get up easily. My friend enjoyed the evening and her birthday, but for another special occasion, I will look elsewhere next time as there are multiple fine restaurants in this area to choose from.
** Update: The owner has contacted us and invited us back as his guests. I was impressed by his integrity and graciousness. He was quick to arrange for our next visit, and I will update this review after we have our next, hopefully positive experience. ** Our second visit to Windows and unfortunately, probably our last. We made reservations 1 week prior, and when we arrived, they had us scheduled at another time. While they did seat us promptly, the waiter let us know no pastry chef, no pizza, shrimp cocktail, oysters....all because of the absent pastry chef??? Our drinks Shirley Temple and Margarita took 30 minutes, our salad 45. No bread offered. Our entrees arrived an hour after we were seated. My husband said his steak was OK...my burrata was OK as well being vegetarian, choices were very limited, see the absent pastry chef note. When the waiter presented our bill, he then apologized "for all the waits". Having been a waitress in a previous life, a periodic update while waiting for our order would have been appreciated. All in all, we will patronize one of the myriad of restaurants on Morro Bay on our next trip. Not the experience we expect for a $150+ dinner. One plus, amazing views of the bay.
Windows on Water is a charming restaurant with a beautiful view of the bay. The service is good, and the restrooms are clean. However, when it comes to the food, it clearly does not live up to the price. I tried the scallops with mandarin, mushrooms, and fried bacon for the first time. It was certainly inventive, but I prefer my bacon cooked with eggs, and it was overpriced. I also had the halibut, which was overcooked and completely tasteless. The chef didn't use any spices, neither salt nor pepper. For $200 for two people, I expected more. Unfortunately, being a tourist spot, the restaurant doesn't seem to rely on the return of tourists.
The views of Morro Bay and Morro Rock are awesome. The service left a lot to be desired; it took several times to get our orders correctly. The food was decent although it took quite a bit of time not because the place was packed, mind you. Our friend's drink was switched with one of the patrons at the table next to ours. Prices are on the higher side for which one would expect outstanding service.
We came this weekend to celebrate my sister's graduation, and it was a very uncomfortable meal. The view WAS spectacular, but immediately the split plate charge on an appetizer salad confused us. Service was slow but ok, and appetizers arrived. The lobster bisque was over salted and the consistency of a stick of butter, and the server did remove it from our bill. However, my food came out with a hair in it, and I waited 10 minutes for a fresh plate while my family ate, and that was still charged to us. The bathroom wasn't great and like another review from 2 months ago said, the toilet seat was unstable and I'm glad I wasn't older like the other poster or I could have fallen. Overall the food quality was mediocre, and very awkward as a celebration meal for the price we paid. We would not recommend this, especially to other Cal Poly families.
Food was quite good. Fish was a touch overdone but that didn’t stop me from eating all of it haha Our server didn’t know a ton about the wine or the oysters but everything was enjoyable nonetheless! The mousse dessert was a definite highlight and we got the arrogate dessert as well. Delicious meal! Spent $200 on the halibut, 1/2 dozen oysters, pizza, a bottle of wine, dessert and two dessert martinis. We feel it was worth the price for sure! We would return here
We had a very nice Mother's Day dinner here. We had the Dungeness crab cake, Diver Scallops, and the New York Strip steak. All were wonderfully prepared. The service was exceptional. This restaurant is definitely not all about the view which is fabulous.Food: 5/5
Always have had a great meal here! Staff are friendly and with the food, they make it well worth the price! Still keep coming here and enjoy each dish and there is a very good selection of wine.
Paul and his staff are incredible. We have dinned here many times & are always impressed by the incredible food, beautiful scenery & spectacular staff! This restaurant is a must visit when were near the area of Morro Bay! Vegetarian options: They have nice options for vegetarians! Kid-friendliness: My girls loved the kids menu!!! The pizza was so delicious, i found myself stealing a slice from each kid!!! It appeared to be fresh made from scratch!!! Wheelchair accessibility: There is an elevator that leads to the restaurant; the restraunt is on the upper deck.
