Story

In 1929, Dr Bruning started Woodlawn Memorial Park I. He sold the cemetery in 1956 to Ross Sullivan after twenty-seven years of distinguished service to the Joliet area community. In 1969, Dr. Martinucci and Victor Gallo purchased the park and 400 additional feet to the east to allow for more growth. It is our desire to maintain the integrity of service provided since 1929. The beauty of Woodlawn is unmatched by any other cemetery or memorial park in the Joliet area.

My brother is buried there right up in the front on your way out. His name is Craig Rector. There is no grass where he is buried and there is a big tree there that the roots are taking over the whole area. Something has to be done this is not the first time there have been complaints made. I will take a shovel and grass seed. If this can't be fixed he should be laid to rest in a better location.

First memory of Woodlawn is set in mid 1960's...my Grandpa used to bring me there to feed the White Swans...yes there have been Swans there for at least 50 years.... Grandpa used to lay under a tree nearby...and once fell asleep... when I woke him, he said One of these days I'm gonna take a nice long nap here.... Several years later when he was buried under that tree, I understood...so even tho Woodlawn is the final resting place for several family and friends, it is a place I hold in High Regards.... Unfortunately I will have to return from Arizona to visit Woodlawn sooner than I'd care to....but all said, it is a beautiful and peaceful place

Someone stole the urn off grave and they are telling me I have to make my own police report and file under my own homeowners insurance the cost to replace with a plastic one 300.00 so the thieves won't steal it again they say if they get some returned I would be put on the list so I am stuck with a hole in the ground to put flower arrangments on instead of a metal urn

Lots are spacious just wish there weren't swans at the pond.

Insufferable, dishonest, argumentative, and deplorable staff and management. Beautiful grounds - only reason for the one star.
