The Worthington Fire Department is located in Marion County, West Virginia 7 miles south of Fairmont. Our first due response area spans across 33 square miles of mixed residential, commercial, but mainly rural areas. We average around 1000-1200 fire and EMS calls per year. Our current fleet of apparatus includes 2 engines, 1 rescue engine, 1 brush unit, 1 utility vehicle, and 1 boat out of 1 station. The department has undergone some major changes in the past few years including building our new fire station in 2005, purchasing several pieces of apparatus. We are still striving to improve and expand our services to keep providing the best fire protection to our citizens.
Fireman's Prayer
When I am called to duty, God...
Where ever flames may rage...
Give me the strength to save some life...
Whatever be its age...
Help me embrace a little child...
Before it is to late...
Or save an older person from...
The horror of that fate...
Enable me to be alert...
And hear the weakest shout...
And quickly and efficiently to put the fire out...
I want to fill my calling and...
To give the best in me...
To guard my every neighbor and protect his property...
And if according to your will...
I have to give my life...
Please bless with your protecting hand...
MY CHILDREN AND MY WIFE.
