Xi'an Famous Foods
"Xi’an Famous Foods began as a 200 square foot basement stall in the Golden Shopping Mall in Flushing, N.Y. The original location, established in late 2005, was the first restaurant to bring the little-known cuisine of Xi’an to the United States. Since then, it’s become a beloved local fast-casual chain, with locations in New York’s Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens boroughs. As a family-owned business, Xi’an Famous Foods looks to reintroduce the world to the unique western Chinese cuisine of the founder’s hometown through some classic dishes: liang pi “cold-skin noodles," stewed pork burgers, wide hand-pulled “biang biang” noodles, and more, all in their most authentic forms based on family recipes."

One of the most incredible hand-pulled noodles that I’ve ever had! The noodles are freshly prepared right instead of you and the dishes are very quickly. Everything is extremely fresh and unbelievably delicious. There are vegetarian and meat options. The meat looked so tender but I chose the vegetarian option which was amazing. The staff is also super sweet and given the quality, it is fairly priced. The indoor seating isn’t the best, but you’re really there for the incredible food.
This restaurant was very close to our hotel and seemed always crowded whenever we passed by. We ordered a take out for dinner and it didn't disappoint! - Spicy & sour pork & cabbage dumplings: at first I thought the dough was a bit too thick but after I took a bite, I understand why. The filling was dense and very meaty! It was very delicious! Although the dough was thick but it was perfectly cooked and chewy. The sauce was delicious! It was spicy and sour which perfectly complemented the dumplings. - Beef hand ripped noodle: The noodle was excellent! It was chewy and perfectly cooked. They gave plenty of beef pieces and it was very flavorful. We ordered spicy and it was a bit too spicy for me so maybe next time I'll order mild.
If you’re around Chelsea don’t skip this place! Their spicy cumin lamb hand pulled noodles were so flavourful and delicious! The textures on it were incredible! I also got the sour pork dumplings which came swimming in sauce and chilly oil YUM! The prices are reasonable and the food is great. Worth it.Food: 5/5
Simply delicious. Though I wanted to try the oxtails, they were unavailable, but every dish we ordered was a delight. The experience was further enhanced by the unique aspect of the kiosks: no tip options. It’s refreshing to see a fast-food-style restaurant that doesn’t pressure customers to tip, creating a straightforward and enjoyable dining experience.
The noodles I ordered were very good but the service was slow. It took at least 10-15 minutes and restaurant wasn’t crowded. The price is very reasonable so that made up for slowness. It was very cold in restaurant but better than being hot.. I highly recommend if in the area.
Ordered the vegetarian chili oil hand pulled noodles with the lamb dumplings. The noodles were nice and bouncy when you bit into it but lacked the depth of flavor I had expected. The chili oil I got was fine, not amazing, and leaned more watery than a thick coating of oil. For a dish without many of its usual accompaniments meat, veges etc, it anchored heavily on the chili oil which unfortunately fell flat. Perhaps it was because I didn’t order it extra spicy and normal spic instead. Worth another try. The lamb dumplings, on the other hand, were excellent. The wrapper was thick but not too overpowering such that it kept the moisture of the meat inside without being flavorless carbs. The soup/sauce it was in added — and once you bit in and poured more of its sauce it was fantastic.
3.5 stars for a very small reasonably priced, dumpling & noodle spot. Very simple intuitive ordering kiosks. Place is clean & modest but has plenty of small formica tables. I ordered the cumin lamb burger which is actually carved pieces of lamb between grilled pita bread with sautéed caramelized onions. It was solidly good & the cumin flavor was great. 90% of it was great. There was 1 large piece of lamb that was so tough I had to cut it up. So that was a bit of a bummer. I also ordered the spicy pork with hand torn noodles. Noodles are homemade & medium thick so holds onto the spicy pork sauce really well. The portions were respectable & the prices quite reasonable. For both, my bill was $19-. They offer frozen dumplings, & chili crisp for take away. I will def try their dumplings next. All in all, a good overall experience for a quick bite or take away meal. They offer 3 types of bottled tea. No alcohol. ENJOY!
Here on Vacation, and my Niecy knows New York all over. She's the best host and tour person here. She bought me here, this is her favorite and eats here often. I got the Schezwan noodles with Lamb she got the Beef. So delicious and yummy Highly Recommend when you come to New York, Manhattan. Thanks so much for your great food and kind hospitality. Blessings Always
the dynasty is back on the rise and i hope they’re here to stay- noodles made to order with some of the bombast flavor profiles , i’d go as far as saying this brand is doing what david chang should of done- hit some exceptional products out of the park and keep the menu consistent so we can eat it anywhere!!! and it’s the cheapest with the best quality possible.
With so many options where do you go? Here! Been here three times and every time I’m satisfied. The food is really good. Tasty, well prepared. The noodles have to be homemade. Clean and delicious.
