We started our camp in 2000 with the idea to create a musical environment where kids like you could feel free to explore new musical paths as well as get better at what you work on during the school year! The Young Musicians’ Camp is not a band camp, not a rock camp, not an orchestra camp, a choral camp, a piano camp – it is a Music Camp like no other camp around!!

Here is a little about what we do:

Our camp goes from 9 in the morning to 4 or 5 in the afternoon. When you come to the campus of the University of Miami Frost School of Music – you check our Camp Bulletin Board to see what’s in store for the day! If you are younger, then you meet with your camp counselor, if you are older, you head off to your first class to warm up. You go to 2 classes in the morning and then we meet in front of the band room and the whole camp heads off to the campus cafeteria for lunch. It is all you can eat – from pizza, burgers, hot food, salad bar, desserts and drinks.

After lunch we have our Special Activity ---It could be a Talent Show, Faculty Concert, Jam Session, Karaoke, Games (if you are younger) or Masterclasses and Rehearsals (if you are older).

Then it’s on to the afternoon classes. We break in the middle for popsicles or snacks (it does get hot here in Miami..). If you don’t want to finish your day at 4, then you can add private lessons or another class or ensemble!

For those of you in our sleep away camp – we don’t stop here – Our energetic and talented dorm counselors have created a fun schedule combing music (and practice time, of course) with bowling night, movies, water park, dorm talent show and just hanging out time!

Mission

The mission of the “ Young Musicians’ Camp, Inc.” is to provide a musical experience of the highest quality to elementary through senior high school aged children. It seeks to expand the musical horizons of children in the spirit of fun and friendship. Recognizing the unlimited potential of all children when nurtured in a rich environment, the camp strives to bring together children from a wide variety of ethnic, cultural, and financial backgrounds to share in the joy of making of music.
