Story

Opened in 2011, Zeppoli is a small romantic and very intimate 35 seat BYOB located in Collingswood NJ. Our Restaurant serves Classic yet very simple, Italian cuisine with a strong focus on Sicilian. Combining New and Old World traditions, you can choose from Antipasti, homemade/imported pastas, grilled or roasted meats, and fish, as well as house made desserts and Gelati.

The Name "Zeppoli" or Zeppole refers to "fried dough". These fried dough balls can either be savory or sweet. In the South of Italy and especially in Sicily, Zeppoli are also known as sfigne or St. Joseph's day cakes. These small Italian style doughnuts are either tossed in cinnamon/sugar, rolled with honey, or filled with sweetened fresh ricotta.

Surrounded by old black and white photos of Sicily and dark wooden walls, guests can relax and enjoy authentic flavors of the Mediterranean.

The restaurant says cozy, romantic dinner place. It was very noisy to the point you couldn’t carry on a conversation with the people at our table. Couldn’t hear the waitress without her shouting. Two different tables were so loud and boisterous, shouting, broke wine glasses, and certainly weren’t acting like you would in what was called an intimate, cozy, small place. The food was fabulous and our server was awesome. It’s a shame the dining experience sucked. Had looked forward to this reservation for a long time. With a restaurant that only holds thirty five quests, to have two tables of at least 8-10 people, being extremely loud it was to much noise. It really ruined the dining experience. I’ve never written a bad review for a restaurant before , but compelled to after this very disappointing experience. I certainly expected more.

The food here is made with love. It's a creative, authentic menu. The atmosphere feels like an old fashioned restaurant in the city. Reminds me of something from a movie. Service is good. BYOB! Great for a Sunday dinner with family.

Make sure to make a reservation to this BYO gem. This tiny restaurant serves great Sicilian foods. I was given a recommendation to try Zeppoli when I was in the area. I was not disappointed. The restaurant has 35 seats... not tables, seats. The kitchen is open to the seating area so the aroma of the various foods on the limited menu fill the room. The menu has 3 columns- Starters, Pastas, and Main Entrees. The breads are homemade and served with olive oil with herbs, olives and lemon. The courses are reasonably sized. I started with a traditional panzanella salad with crisp bread, tomatoes and cucumbers. As my main course I enjoyed the large size gnoculli, which is like a potatoless gnocchi that has spinach in it and is served with crispy sage and brown butter. Wow. The flavor was so rich. The meal was one that I won't forget.
