Zoo Miami

About

Zoo Miami: One of the biggest, one of the most unique and, definitely, one of the best zoos in the world!

Story

Zoo Miami (also known as The Miami-Dade Zoological Park and Gardens) is the largest and oldest zoological garden in Florida, and the only tropical zoo in the continental United States.

The unique climate in South Florida allows us to keep a wide variety of animals from Asia, Australia and Africa, representing a broad mix of species that is unlike any other zoo in the country.

Our animals are grouped according to their geographic territories, with species that live together peacefully in the wild placed in exhibits together here at the zoo. Our trees, foliage and even our soil are matched as closely as possible to the native habitats of our animals.

Wonderful zoo. So many animals to see. All animals look well taken care of. You can buy a bowl of lettuce and feed the giraffes which is just an awesome thing to do. The workers there will also take a picture for you and are very nice about trying to make sure the giraffe is in a good spot when they do take it. You can definitely spend all or at least a good part of your day there.

The special needs school I work for comes yearly to the zoo to celebrate the end of the year. We start by going straight to the splash pad and enjoy the journey getting there. The kids love to play in the splash pad! We then do lunch nearby and clean after ourselves with brooms available at the food hut. (We appreciate having access to that since our kids can be a little messy. =P) after lunch we head back to the front and get in line for a special tram tour that was worth every penny! Our kids were able to get a guided tour and hear special facts about every animal! This is especially special to us since some of our kids are unable to walk long distances, especially with the heat. We had so much fun and it was worth every penny! Thank you for all the special accommodations you did for us to make that day so memorable! - Promised Land Academy.

Miami Zoo has evolved into a wonderful place to visit. Highly recommend visiting during the December through May months to avoid the great heat and humidity of Florida. The place is clean, and the animals are well kept. We delighted to find that the tiger had just given birth, and we were rather fortunate that mother and baby came out for a short time so we could admire these incredible cats. We have submitted several photos and the most enjoyable time spent at the Zoo was taking photos. We rented a bike of 4 passengers and sped along to rest our feet. The exercise was wonderful. We spent the entire day there are were unable to finish all that is now offered. We will return to do some of the aquatic rides. Highly recommend!

This zoo is very HUGE. With lots of thing to do and amazing customer service. Some of my favorite features are, water mist throughout the walkway to keep you cool, big kids playground and water area, lots of water fountains and bathrooms, lots of food options. There's many animals to see but wear comfortable clothes. I recommend to go in the morning and maybe on a day when its not too packed so you can get the best pictures and enjoyment.

Very impressive zoo. They have a large variety of animals from all over the world, with habitats that seem nice and appropriately sized for them. There are a few indoor exhibits that are air-conditioned, which is a welcomed reprieve from the heat. The food selection is a bit limited and prices are high as you'd expect, but you can't bring outside food so there's really no other choice there. You can easily spend the better part of the day here, and kids of all ages would have a great time.
