This place is terrible... the bathroom in the loading dock is usually broken in some way. Soap dispenser, No TP, and full of etched graffiti. There is often drug paraphernalia in the trash can, and, as another resident has stated, there are homeless drug addicts living out of many of the units. It often smells like urine in various parts of the building including the elevator. A1 installed some sort of baby powder smell emitting unit in the elevator. Probably to cover the pee smell. Sometimes the homeless come and go in groups of four or five. This is a huge concern when loading and unloading your things as well as a personal safety issue. My girlfriend doesn't feel comfortable going there alone which is really a shame. The last 5 years my rent has gone up roughly 30%. They do make you buy their expensive locks (2X the cost of a good padlock). They also charge me $10 a month for insurance which is ridiculous. You can almost get a renter's or homeowner's policy that covers where you live AND your storage for that. Maybe the high premium has something to do with the homeless drug addicts they rent to. Also, not enough carts, so you have to comb the garage of the building in order to find one to move your stuff half the time. We are moving our things to a better location that is also less expensive next month.

Excellent facility. We had our belongings there for seven years, after relocating to CA from Chicago. We just brought our things home last week, after purchasing our first house. For the entire seven years, we always felt that our things in storage were 100% safe and secure. They were also in perfect condition, as we used a climate controlled unit. We knew we didn't have to worry about them, which gave great peace of mind. And when we would visit the storage unit to collect things, we always felt safe as well. Also, they keep the place very, very clean. No insects or dust. They do raise their rates every year, but I guess any other place would too. They had excellent communications. We were very happy with our experience with them!

A-1 Storage really is "A-1"! First off, staff is very personable, knowledgeable, and helpful. The facility is remarkably clean and easy to navigate from its multiple elevator points of entry. And for me, living in downtown San Diego, it has been very conveniently located. I used it for the storage I needed in a move, and continue there with a small unit to replace the storage I lost in transitioning to a smaller home.

We needed a storage location for one of our cars while we were gone on an extended driving vacation. The A-1 location on PCH was always on our radar as we would travel back and forth to Point Loma from downtown. The customer service person was so personable as he took care of the individual needs of several of us. He assisted us with the completion of the rental documents and described in detail the steps that A-1 would take to store our car, place our cover on it, and start it each month to run it a bit to keep the battery charged. The facility was very clean, well organized, and the professionalism of the staff built that important feeling of trust in us to rent from them. We would highly recommend anyone looking for a storage facility to seriously consider A-1. Dennis

It all started ok ,I had rented a place for a year without a problem then I rented another for my mom Then it started going south , I was on the 5th floor and the button for the elevator was broken so I walked down a flight stairs to my place on the 4th floor I walked past on other tenant who proceeded to follow me and a ask me if I " had a problem " why was I walking past his unit ....so I put it off as just another crazy guy ,there are a lot of homeless people renting here . A few months went buy and then my friend who was waiting for me outside the gate got verbally attack buy the same lunatic telling Alex my friend that he was gunna kick his ass .so I just said "he's just crazy " he always has the same clothes on ,blue cap, white shirt jeans and black boots .then you get a rent increase every 3 months...for something . So a few more months went buy and my rent wheat up again so I went on line and got a new place less expensive and moved down to the 4floor .....and that's when all hell broke loose . They hired a new person named Justin and every time I was in my unit he would appear accusing me of sleeping, running my bike , "it's not a chiropractor office " when I was doing sit-ups on the floor So like anyone else who get falsely accused I told him he was wrong and asked who he was in a upset manner .....all the time wondering if he does this to "crazy guy " who is living in his and menacing other tenants ? So Justin like clock work would show up every time I was in my space harassing me ....after renting there 3 plus years ???never missed a payment our did anything wrong like menace tenants . Then I went to the office to complain about "crazy guy" on 9/16 and asked Justin where Emma was and was told she was not there I said cool , so I went to my space to get something's before work my second job and like clock work Justin appear and accused me of sleeping .......so I said I'm not sleeping but he persisted so I got mad at him and asked him "why he's targeting me " which his reply was "I'm only doing my job" so I said ok let's go for a walk and do you job , so I started walking towards "crazy guys " unit because he is always there to ask him his name (because Justin avoids ) and crazy guy LOST HiIS MIND ! Came out of the unit with a bat and knife threatening me pushing me back to my space where he was acting like he was gunna stab my tire on my bike !!!! That's when Justin showed up and I told him "that's the guy " that I was complaining about that's when said he was not gunna call the police I was gunna have too ?!?!? So I promptly called the police and 10 cops showed up but crazy guy ditched , and it seemed like Justin knew him ?!?!? They seem to have a familiarity with each other ?..so after being a loyal customer for three plus years and being menaced buy a lunatic I was givin a eviction order 4 days later !?!? After being victimized I was victimized again buy the establishment....... So if you wanna be treated like a criminal after you have been a victim this is the place for you . They obviously cannot keep it safe and secure ,they raise the rent every three months , and there are no security cameras inside the place . Oh yea I was gunna complain about the last "crazy guy " incedent because he aggressively approached me asking me "what I was doing " while I was in my space ! I think he thinks he works there are he is a stooge for management So I am gunna get the police report and seek counsel I would give it a negative one but I can't . To bad seemed nice at first
