I tried to reserve a car a few months in advance. Emailed, phoned. In the end Steve told me it would work out on the phone. Now one week before we need the car I emailed to reconfirm. No cars availlable I am told. Not trusthworty at all! Lets you down at the last minute.

I rented a car from A-ACAR (I think it might just be called ACAR) to drive around when going out to the bay area for an internship.  I was picked up from San Jose Airport, and able to rent a car for far less than the other major car companies.  ACAR's fleet is a little older, but the cost savings in considerable, and a majority of the cars are from reliable brands, so even if the car was older there was little concern.

Anyone who is budget conscious should consider AACar when looking for a car to rent when in the Silicon Valley, Palo Alto, San Jose Area.

Steve's got some cars sitting around next to Meissner Automotive and would be happy to loan you one for a lot less than the national chains. How can he do this? Overhead is low- this is a small, local business. He's very friendly, professional, and allows after-hours returns. If I have to rent a car in the South Bay again, I'm calling Acar!

By the way, reviews for Meissner Automotive are great, so if they can fit you in, you can have a rental right next door for the time it takes to repair your car. That's synergy, folks! I went down the street to Helmings, and was very happy there as well.
