These guys are total crooks. They overcharge you for parts to make money off of you. They don't even check to see if you really need the parts or not. I knew this when they tried to order new air filters for me that I purchased a week ago. They offer to transfer your diagnostic fee if you decide to have them fix the car but if you try to buy the parts, they are gonna wanna have you pay the diagnostic fee. Total crooks, this means they hike the price of the parts to dupe you of your money. Never ever going back there.

I've been taking my car here for the past year and I don't even live in D.C. I just can't get the same great service anywhere else. From oil changes to swapping out alternators to a tune-up, these guys will bend over backwards to make sure you walk away a happy customer. They'll even drive you home or to Union Station if you need a ride, while your car is in the shop. Jin is great at going over what needs to be done and why. Overall, if you like trustworthy and professional mechanics with outstanding customer service, this is your place... 5 stars.

On September 12, 2013 I took my Moms SUV to AAMCO @ 1001 Bladensburg Rd NE to have it checked out because the gears seemed to be slipping and when vehicle was in park it will slowly roll so we have to use parking brake to keep in place. I had been driving it for 2 weeks nursing it along. As long as I took my time getting it moving from a full stop it drove fine once I got moving. The mechanic took it in back and supposedly put it on machine to check. The mechanic brought it back to the front after about 10 minutes. Another guy in plain clothes gets in and proceeded to drive out of lot. I asked the man behind the desk what he was doing. He told me he was checking what the 1st mechanic told him by test driving so they could be positive of diagnosis. He returns and as he puts vehicle in park it makes like a grinding sound as he moves gear shift to park. I tell him I have heard that several times. He gets out and starts to explain to me what is wrong but I notice vehicle drifting. I asked if he put parking brake on and he said he did not but is acting a little unconcerned so I move to go to vehicle to put parking brake on. He then says he has it and gets on applies parking brake but then proceeds to move the gear shift back and forth rapidly and all the while it is making the grinding sound. He gets out and goes and gets a part that looks like a wheel with a rod in the middle and proceeds to tell me that that wheel (spalke), I forgot the name but mechanics would know, was inside the transmission and was what kept gears in place when shifted from park, reverse, neutral, etc. They told me a price and I told them I needed to think about it. I left the lot and it barely got off lot before it basically stopped and when moved had loud grinding sound. When I arrived the grinding sound was only when I started rolling from a stop after I got going it was fine. I finally make my way to a parking lot about a block away and I can't move forward or back and sounds horrendous. I had to call a tow truck and transmission is totally gone. I feel the way that man kept moving gear shift back and forth rapidly like he did he purposely made sure that thing broke thinking they were going to get the business but I cannot prove it. Nor did he give me a print out of diagnosis. I will NEVER take my vehicle to an AAMCO again. My mother is a senior and needs her vehicle and to do that to someone is CRUDDY!!! How many people have they done this to? They SCAMMED me but I can't prove it but I can tell others so they won't make the same mistake as I did.
