Story

The Pittsburgh Area's choice to study the martial art of Wing Chun. With a distinguished lineage and great instruction, it's no wonder we have students who travel 1-2 hours to train with us. We are dedicated to teaching, learning and promoting this amazing system of martial arts. We offer classes for ages 4 through 108. Wednesday class times are for private students and are by appointment only.
Coming December 2012, we will be offering classes in Wexford, PA at MAC Fitness on Monday and Wednesday at 7 PM.

I have been a student of Sifu Dale Stagerwald for about 3 years now and it has truly been one of the best experiences of my life. When i first walked in the doors of the school i had no idea what to expect. I was in search of direction and discipline in my life and martial arts was the next logical thing to try. Wing chun is the kung fu system taught in this school. It had caught my eye one day while i was surfing my very slow dial-up internet, and I decided I would go check it out. I had my own idea of what to expect walking into the school. I figured I see a drill instructor in all white yelling and having his students breaking boards and do thousands of punches, but those thoughts came to a screeching halt with the warm welcome i received at the door. I was met by my Sifu who explained a little about the wing chun system before introducing me to the class. In a blink all my misconceptions of this martial art faded and i began to realize that i was among ordinary people who were there training to be extraordinary. Whether they were there to learn how to relax, to learn self defense, or to study this brilliant martial art. They were all there to learn together. The environment inside the school inspires you to be your best and it brings the best out of you. I highly recommend coming to try out a few classes. Who knows, if you even get a fraction of the experience I and many others got walking through those doors. You might just find what your looking for and probably a little more.

I have been training at the school for over 2 years and couldn't imagine training anywhere else.  I have trained at several other martial arts schools in the past, but this school is by far the best.  Sifu Dale's knowledge of the wing chun system is top-notch.  He is an outstanding teacher, motivator and is genuinely interested in helping you get the best out of yourself not only in wing chun, but also in life as well.  The training atmosphere is supportive, challenging and very friendly.  Everyone is very forthcoming in sharing their knowledge in wanting to help each other improve.  Lastly, being able to participate in kung fu life allows you to interact with fellow AVTKF students outside the classroom and build friendships with other students from around the world.

Sifu Dale is an amazing guide to the Ving Tsun art form, and a humble human being. The training is fantastic and fun.

I used to study here years ago. I enjoyed my training here. Work and my commute for training eventually led to me no longer training with Sifu Dale. I recommend anyone in the area check it out if interested.

Wing Chun is an amazing martial art, and this AVTKF is an amazing school.  I have been a student for 10 months now and have enjoyed it immensely.  Sifu Dale is a highly skilled martial artist and teacher, the environment is fun and relaxed, and the school itself has become a second family to me.  If you're looking for a genuine experience and not just another belt factory (there are no belts here), come try it out.  You won't regret it!
