Have been looking for good quality shoes for our Disney trip. Great experience finding shoes here. The young man who helped me was nice and helpful! Would recommend this place. Their prices are very good and there is a nice selection.

I live in Terre Haute and would prefer to do business locally but I am done with Academy. My most recent visit..... I'm an avid canoer and was looking for new canoe seat and propane bottles for my upcoming trip. I found everything quickly. I noticed the chair I had chosen didn't have a bar code. Neither did the other ones. I noted the price and proceeded to check out. Upon arriving up front 5-6 Academy Sports employees were at the customer service station chatting it up. Including what looked to be a male supervisor. My cashier was pleasant but was not able to ring up my chair. When she asked for help the crowd of employees disbursed and no one seemed to want to help. I was standing around wondering if I was going to be allowed to buy the chair and the poor cashier was left helpless. Eventually someone shouted out what color is it and hold it up. The male supervisor looked over and said "ok" and leisurely walked the opposite way of us and where the chair was located. After a few minutes he came walking back without answers and asked if there was a tag on it. Really? I walked out and won't be back. I really miss Gander Mountain but since they closed I guess I will just order my outdoor supplies through my Amazon Prime account. Good Luck! P.S. I still feel bad for the Cashier. She was nice, apologetic but unfortunately had no leadership support.

Asked for 40 s&w - 10mm reload the sporting goods supervisor for handguns when I asked when he could get them in wasted 10 minutes of my time then he said well I will look in our warehouse after all that time. They don't carry any Glock ammo but they are a glock sales outfit. And when u look at pistols they got everything stacked behind each other where u can't even read the info card and the makers are all over not together so u got to climb over people when busy to see one make of pistol

This store has friendly and helpful staff that will go out of their way to make sure you get what is best for you. The fishing department will string your new pole for free and they give great advice. The prices are also much lower than some other sporting goods stores in the area.

My shopping experience was not the best. I was in the store looking for shoes for close to an hour and a half, with no associate even attempting to greet me, let alone assist me. (There were two associates in the shoe department, one of which was texting on her cell phone the majority of my visit.) After making my purchase, I decided that the shoes would not work for me, so I took them back for a return. I was treated rudely by the customer service associate. I will not be returning. We are avid outdoor people who will for sure spend their money elsewhere from now on.
