In 2014, Lake Shore natives and brothers Jaret and Jason Gordon bought Southgate Hardware and have partnered with one of the largest hardware cooperatives in the country to become Ace Hardware Payson. Along with our spouses, Lindy and Kimberly, we are committed to maintaining a legacy of customer-centered service that maintains low prices, great service, and a local hardware store sensibility.
Within our first month of ownership, our store was completely professionally merchandised and laid out to provide our customers with an improved shopping experience. We added new interior and exterior signage, as well as many new products.
Some of our biggest changes were the addition of some top-name brands, including: STIHL, Craftsman Tools, Valspar, Clark & Kensington, and Toro. Additionally, we expanded our offerings of services to include Chip Keys and Propane.

In our case, change is good; our customers have already commented on how much they love our new store because it is easy to shop, we have helpful service, and we save them time with a store layout that makes things easy to find and go through check out.
Through this transition, many of the same employees have stayed with us! All told, our staff has over 70 years of experience working just at this location, and a collective 125 years of hardware retail experience. This experience means we know what we’re selling, we know what your home projects need, can make recommendations and provide practical tips, and we can answer you questions.
