I would not recommend Acklen West End.  I have lived in two different apartments in this building, and at the end of my lease I will have been here for 26 long months.  Ostensibly, this seems like a good place to live if you’re looking to be close to downtown, Vanderbilt, etc.  However, the management is insufferable—completely unresponsive unless heavily prodded, and acts as if the residents are an imposition—not what you’d expect from a building that purports itself as a “luxury” complex.  Moreover, the building staff are grossly negligent, and have entered my apartment for “inspections” 3 times in the past 5 months, leaving my door unlocked, for anyone to walk in, not once, but two times.  Going forward, I will have to inconvenience myself to ensure that I am present for any further redundant “inspections,” because I know Acklen has no regard for the security of their residents.   

As others have stated, the building is cheaply constructed, and you will hear every single thing that goes on in the apartments above and around you.  I hear when my upstairs neighbor wakes up at 5:05 AM every morning to go to work; I hear when she’s on the phone, planning her upcoming vacation.  Therefore, these apartments are not conducive to anyone who will be needing a quiet environment for studying.

In short, look elsewhere.  I chose to renew my lease after the first year only because I am finishing my graduate medical education in the area, and my schedule did not accommodate a move.  However, there are so many new, better buildings in the area, with comparable amenities, and they all price match.  Save yourself the headache.

I enjoy most things about living here, but the staff really has no idea what they are telling their residents. When I moved in 2 people mentioned that our floors would be concrete then it turned out to be wood, which was lucky for us, though the staff had no idea. Then when I moved in they mentioned that if I wanted to purchase my own blinds I could have them installed for free by Acklen maintenance, which apparently isn't correct either. The maintenance phone number that they have posted doesn't even work either. They need to stop switching staff, and focus on hiring people who are more invested in what their job is.

I was not impressed by the service at acklen. I lived there for almost 2 years, and in that time the management team changed at least 3 times. I made a maintenance request for the toilet leaking and it turned out they had to tear out the whole floor in my apartment and repair the wall, which took 4 days and we were told to either stay in the apartment or find somewhere else, but they were not going to pay for a hotel as it is still "livable". Not to mention, the flooring and all materials are cheaply made. My friend caught his shorts on the handle of the cabinet and it broke the wood in half. 

I love the location - that is main positive I have for this apartment.

So I'd like to say that this is obviously not a Batman movie. Chris (the guy who made a 1 star review below me) is not very credible. I don't mean to trash people on here but Chris is fighting bigger demons than the place he lives (personal experience). It's not the apartment complex that's making him miserable. I've lived here for a year. I love everything about the place. I have a giant Great Pyrenees pup that nearly has a seizure when he gets near the leasing office because they hook him up with huge treats. I moved in with 2 months free and I've referred 2 people since I moved in (that's 750 per referral). Aside from everything you'll read on their website they have a CARES team that throws apartment events like mutts and mimosas, rooftop songwriter nights, wine wednesdays, I mean you name it. The security guard (Benny) was Faith Hill's bodyguard and he sits in the lobby literally ALL night just waiting for someone to act stupid. Pam, Amanda, Paisley, Mike, and Heather are rockstars. I stop by the leasing office every day to say what's up. They're good people and this is the best place in Nashville if you've got the pocket for it. Don't listen to peeps like Chris who fight the world like someone running around with a sheet covering their face. Move in and come find me for a referral...

Edit x 2: Chris I'm sorry about your depression man I really am. Calling me a drug addict is cute though, considering I joined the military so ridiculous people like yourself can say absurdities and not be slaughtered. But seriously, your life isn't gonna be fixed by closing the door on the world and spitting in beer that you maniacally give to residents (not kidding, he did that). And as I recall you went to the only party I had in the roof, so thanks for contributing! Also, if you want to break the lease why don't you pay the penalty fee to get out of it instead of threatening the awesome leasing team we have? 

I've got one more side note for anyone who really cares to read reviews: how many times have you ordered McDonald's and enjoyed the burger then turned around to say "man that was an exquisite burger!"? The whole world of reviewing is an exact representation of our culture now. The people who feel like everyone needs to know how they feel. I'm doing this to defend my home because I made it into a good experience. Everyone else on here complaining  is going to cry if the wind blows the wrong way. That's just the way the world is. If you want to know about a property, come see it for yourself.

The worst apartment complex off west end! The gate is always broken and crack heads wander off the street in here. Half the amenities are broken! The place is extremely overpriced as well. We plan on breaking our lease because the manager won't make it right, We would stay on two conditions, if the manager would come to our door and apologize for her actions, and having my life threatened in her parking garage, and if they fixed the gate, but the manager wont do that.. If she does ill come back on here in one week and update my review, if you don't see any changes you know why. 

Edit: Ignore what Alex said, he has no idea what he's talking about, he threw a party in the complex a few weeks ago that caused more damage to the complex, DUI's and drug involvement. Can you really trust a drug addict?
