Another office who takes payment before services are rendered. The doctor was sticking a needle in my knee before I was even done explaining my pain. Then to be ushered off to X-rays and finally to the brace fitter who had me inexplicably sign for a $250 brace (identical found online for $80) telling me I would be charged a deposit of $40 and credited back if my insurance covered it. They tried charging my insurance $4000 for a cortisone shot which was negotiated down to $400. I tried to dispute my total amount owed for the brace because I feel ripped off being charged unknowingly, but of course I get the run around only to receive a quick bill from collections. I'll be forced to pay it but they will certainly lose me as a patient. Do yourself a favor and stick to a smaller practice that actually treats you as a patient rather than a customer.

I fell off from my bicycle and hurt my elbow. I visited the Urgent Care(MedEx) next morning They took an X-Ray and the UC doctor identified a minor chip fracture in the head of radius bone of my elbow. They also put a temporary casting to hold my elbow in L shape until I visit an Orthopedic Doctor. I got an appointment with Active Orthopedic 2 days after. I filled out all the forms and gave them my X-ray as well. It took 45 minutes to see Dr.Benke. He looked at the X-ray and said its a normal injury and no casting or surgery or medicine required and will get better automatically. The consultation was just 5 minutes. One week after I got the bill from them saying $133 for Physician and $390 for surgery. I was totally shocked. Surgery?? I thought it could be a billing mistake so I called their billing department. The staff was so rude and she was saying $390 is for fracture care for 3 months which I didn't opt at all. I told them I don't need any care or any further appointment with the doctor and to cancel the $390 but they were so rude and asked me to pay the bill or they will send it for collection. Ridiculous! You cannot charge anyone just because they have some condition, you can charge them only if you provide any care or treatment for that condition. I would never visit Active Orthopedic again and would not recommend it to anyone.
