Story

Ambrosia Restaurant and Bar is the realization of a dream shared by the three owners to merge the traditional, old world cooking they knew as youths with the new world foods and ingredients they came to know as adults. In the summer of 1987, they chose a location adjoining the historic Quackenbush Building in downtown Eugene, Oregon, in which to open Ambrosia.

Ambrosia's seasonal menu features classic italian cuisine inspired by the vibrant Pacific Northwest with nightly specials featuring local produce, seafood and meats, handmade pastas, wood-fired pizza and housemade classic italian desserts. Ambrosia has an extensive wine list and sommeliers on staff, plus a full bar featuring local beers and hand-crafted cocktails and sodas.

The interior is beautifully appointed with antique furnishings, including a huge mahogany and mirror back-bar, beaded lamp shades and stained glass windows. The great brick, oak-fired oven that was imported from Milan adds to Ambrosia’s old-world feel.

This is a difficult review for me to write. My anniversary which was also on Valentine’s Day. We walked into the restaurant and sat down and the waitress spilled a glass of water on me, she got irritated at me for trying to clean it up. She never apologized and was rude the rest of the night. I can easily overlook things but it took an hour for our meal to get to us and all others that arrived after we did were served before us. I do take into account the day. When our food did arrive she brought me the wrong plate. Completely frustrated at this point I was just praying that the food was going to be good. IT ABSOLUTELY WAS ONE OF THE BEST PLATES THAT I HAVE EVER EATEN. !!!! TOP OF THE LINE 5 STAR MEALS!!!! The service from our waitress specifically was a 1 THE FOOD ON THE OTHER HAND WAS GREAT! I emailed the manager and she comped two dinners for my husband and I to make up for it so in the end I am grateful to have gone and will be going again on a night not so busy.

Beautiful environment and very cute setting. We came with a large group and they were very accommodating and fast. Out brunch drinks were excellent. My meal was tasty but very small (omelette). Many other people had very large meals though (biscuits and gravy). A few people got steak and it was icy cold. We we're a big group but it still sucked. Over all happy but wish my meal was bigger and others wasn't cold.

I am no Itallian food connoisseur, but with the authentic atmosphere, delicious entres and desserts I am pleased to say this restaurant is a wonderful place to dine with parties large or small.

The food takes a while to come, but if you're looking to spend time with your group, there is no discomfort to stay long; their friendly supportive staff will serve you well.

Four stars for the high prices, however this place is in fact high end. You will find the experience demands no formal pressure. High end good quality but relaxed.

The chocolate cake is worth a try!

The dining service was impeccable, the food was incredibly delicious. 
Prepare to wait, or make reservations. Food this fresh takes a bit to prepare. Yummy

The service was great the food was okay.  The scallops were a bit past there prime.  I had honey glazed carrots that they failed to mention also had a quite a bit of cinnamon that over powered the dish.  The duck was cooked perfectly.
