AMC Empire 25

Story

The Empire Theatre is a former Broadway theatre located on 42nd Street in Manhattan, New York City.HistoryOriginally opened as the Eltinge 42nd Street Theatre, in 1912, it was designed by noted theatre architect Thomas W. Lamb, and named for Julian Eltinge. Its first production was Bayard Veiller's Within the Law, a hit that ran for more than a year.Originally specializing in light comedies, it suffered during the Great Depression and became first a burlesque theatre, then a movie theater in 1942. It was renamed the Empire Theatre in 1954, after the demolition of the previous theatre of the same name.In 1998, as part of the renewal of 42nd Street led by the New 42nd Street coalition and real estate developer Bruce Ratner, the entire theatre was lifted off its foundation and moved westward approximately 170ft. In its new location, the shell of the theatre auditorium was converted into a lobby and lounge for a 25-screen AMC Theatres multiplex, the AMC Empire 25, with escalators leading to the newly built auditoriums passing through the former proscenium arch of the stage. The theater opened in April 2000.

Tickets are just $8.16 for any show before noon everyday! The best deal in Manhattan. Other times tickets are $13.50, generally a clean theater, all 25 screens offer stadium seating. And are handicap accessible. Lots if bathrooms at least two sets on each floor, usually clean. Concessions, like most theaters are too expensive, so bring your own, if you keep it out of sight you can usually get it in. And yes you can sneak in to another movie on most floors but at your own risk.

I go often because it's super convenient. It's at the intersection of many transit options making it an easy spot to go to the movies with friends from far flung corners of the city, Westchester and Jersey. It's huge and there are lots of times to choose from too, all adding to the convenience. Service is good and it's as clean as it can be considering how many people go through its doors everyday. It is not the nicest or the most comfortable in Manhattan though. I honestly prefer other locations but will keep going here when convenient.

Large theater in convenient location if you know how to weave past all the tourists. I met a friend here for a movie, because the Times Square station is over that both of us can get to pretty easily. The theater itself seemed fairly well maintained. It's not the shiniest AMC, but it's a good one. Follow the signs if you need to find your theater, exits, and bathrooms, and you should be fine.

Dolby sound was amazing. Extremely deep Bass and great picture. My entire row of reclining seats was defective however. They would not recline and when the lights came in I could also see a fair amount of them were torn or cut. This Poor maintenance of seating despite good quality theater a/v took away from me feeling I was getting good value for these high priced tickets.

My wife and I just saw Black Panther here at AMC Empire 25. The Movie theater was clean and the concession stand was quick. The best time to come to the theater is in the morning! Seeing this movie theater is in the middle of time square I was expecting it to be insanely crowded but it wasn't bad at all! Would definitely come back!
