The staff here are nice. Understanding and work with you as long as you give them a heads up and follow through with your needs. They have very legit and honorable business etiquette.

Excellent customer service; clean, tidy, & safe grounds; competent & kind management & staff. Rented unit in SEP 2014 for 4 months plus a few days. While proration is not available on move-outs, it is available on move-ins; and the facility offered a discounted rate (50% off) the first month. Under prior management, we also received an extra month at discounted rate based on Veteran status plus a lock since the one we brought did not fit--in other words, the prior management was generous and made an effort to leave us satisfied given our surprise circumstances just after office closing time. The assistant manager, Dan, was respectful, clear, and helpful in going over the contract and showing the unit to us. Found the unit dry and clean, and move-in worked inside of their hours for access, clearly presented at time of signing as well as on the gate. This facility offers security features that other facilities do not, and the facility was clean and tidy and appeared to be maintained to standards that work. We compared with another facility, who freely reported several break-ins and did not have cameras or gated-access for all units, and Dan said this facility had no incidents. We also noted a live-in apartment in front that was associated with the management. After prior management departed in OCT, the District Manager was present and committed to courtesy and results that make sense and work. We handled some additional business with him on automatic payments and on the contract, and he was attentive, reliable, courteous, friendly, responsive, and committed to professionalism. The new manager, David, and assistant manager, Brian, also were easy and straight-forward as well as committed to and in follow-through on communication from integrity. Upon move-out, they were both attentive, useful and kind in getting the end of the contract complete, including receipt, as well as accommodating and responsive in getting matters settled within our unique considerations. We found them resourceful on options as well as competent in handling the facility, contract, communication, and completion of our tenancy; and they, along with weekend-agent Phillip, generated full satisfaction. Although some might not like the 15-day notice requirement to vacate, this is a standard for planning and successfully running a facility like American (with whom we've also rented at least twice prior in Los Angeles and Glendale, CA)--and like renting an apartment (as standard contracts go and being able to say if a unit is opening up). So far, we've found American to be consistently reliable and clear in how rentals work, straight-forward without a sense of tricking customers (Extra Space Storage, for example, lures customers with low rates then raises the monthly rent regularly), and interested in having the rental unit safe and leaving customers with a sense of value, security, well-being, and satisfaction. If you expect terms to be clear and reliable as well as the facility to be secure and maintained with a sense of doing business properly--and if you are willing to be a responsible tenant--American Self Storage and the staff at the Candelaria RD location are set-up to work with you and deliver results that work.

I paid a month ahead (as I usually do). Never a late payment, always on time. First they raised the price after I'd been there 3 months (okay, okay...I reluctantly said "OKAY"). Then when I canceled ahead of time (and had an extra month I'd paid for) they refused to give me a refund. They are so adamant about giving them notice wayyyyyyyy ahead of time and I get that, and they wanted a letter announcing same. I sent this letter (snail mail) and asked that they send me an email letting me know they'd gotten my letter of intending to vacate the premises, (just so they couldn't charge me with yet something else) and of course I never got that email though they swore they sent it. Nope, they didn't. That IS NOT good business sense and I will never go back. Be careful using this facility.
