A very good station. We've ridden the maple leaf to niagara falls a few times, and have always enjoyed it. The staff on the train was friendly, and did everything professionally. The station has always been clean, well maintained, and easy to navigate because of its simple design. We've gotten tickets here before, and it was always pretty quick and easy to do. The ticket office is run well, and the staff always does their job efficiently. On a side note, it's a great place to watch trains. Probably the best in the buffalo area. Signals are visible from both sides, and trains pass not 5 feet in front of you. Overall, a great place. Amtrak really know what their doing here.
Small station, good clean parking lot. It's located in a quite place. I found it difficult transportation system, specially public transport. But good for those who have own transport. One thing is common to other Buffalo building, it has a buffalo statue in front of the building.
I love this place, perfect place for railfanning to watch many different freights and even Amtrak trains. I hope one day that Amtrak will upgrade this station just like the downtown one.
The Lake Shore Limited isn’t really meant for transportation purposes, it’s sort of a novelty thing at this point. Erie to Buffalo is advertised as a 90 minute ride but takes around 3 and a half hours and I couldn’t imagine going any further unless you want to spend days on this train. This is not the way to travel if you need to be anywhere but it is sort of nice to sit back and take a nap while someone else drives, and the employees are friendly.
This station served as the starting point for my first-ever Amtrak experience. We treated ourselves to a roomette for our journey across New York State to Penn Station in Manhattan. Had a great experience overall. It was great to be able to park our car for free, grab our belongings, wait in the lobby for ~15 minutes for the train to arrive, board without long/complicated security lines, and then sit back, relax, and enjoy our journey. If you have the time and patience, it is a great way to travel. This station currently serves as the primary Buffalo, NY hub - and I hope that changes over time. The new station downtown is very nice. It might also be great to see a new Amtrak hub eventually either at Canalside, or most ideally, at the Central Terminal in Kaisertown. Either way - props to Amtrak and the Depew station for kicking off a memorable journey.
Staff is great and very helpful. Access is good with ramps and button opening doors. Bathrooms very clean. Snack machines and ATM, quick-Trak machine, lots of seating.
Depew/Buffalo Amtrak Train Station. Service is usually decent, parking is hit or miss, sometimes really full other, times not too bad.
Clean and Safe station from my experience. Usually I'm waiting for a few hours before my train arrives and I've had to spend the night here before when my train was delayed pre-covid. I've never felt unsafe while here. Staff always on duty and helpful. I actually enjoy waiting here for my train to arrive. I just wish the train I take would be scheduled earlier then late night.
Provided you bought your ticket online, there is next to no hassle between arriving at the station and boarding your train car. The station is maybe ten meters across too, so if you can haul your luggage that far, you can take quite a bit, as amtrak allows something like two carry-ons and two suitcases and even a pet. Way less stressful than an airport, without question.
Parked for free. Grabbed our train and we were off. Staff was nice. Facilities are basic. Station has heating and wifi and vending machines.
