I never review places in a public forum. I hate this whole system. I have worked in service industries my entire working life and I hate that this platform exists for people to use as a tool to gauge their experiences using grading systems that by nature are flawed, biased, and highly personal. "'The salt was too salty." "I waited 2 hours for a table on a Friday night with no reservation and by the time I sat down I was so hungry." "They were out of my size." 

So this is a first for me, and I feel dirty about it, but I HAVE TO SHOUT OUT TO OHIO WHAT A GOOD STORE THIS IS. JESUS. 

I rarely purchase anything new, because I worked retail before, and I know how the garment industry functions, and it's unbelievably gross, and also I got spoiled by only paying wholesale at the boutique I worked at for so long. But I went into Amy's on a whim because I was feeling depressed and I was already in Rocky River buying cat food anyway and I just moved to Ohio less than a year ago and sometimes you just have to explore weird places you normally wouldn't go.

This store is curated on level: MIRACULOUS. What are they doing in Ohio? I felt like I should have been in Brooklyn (NY). The clothing is cool, the selection exquisitely refrains from being overwhelming, and the shoes are perfect. This is a store for women who like to wear clothes, wear shoes, live in the world, and look good doing it. Most of the brands with a few obvious exceptions are ones you can't get online. The level of quality is impressive and everything seems to be selected with the combined philosophy that women deserve to look and feel beautiful and they should be nothing less than 100% physically comfortable while doing so. Why is this a novelty? I don't know, let's drink too much and talk about it for hours and cry a lot sometime. I guess what I'm saying is that this is a fashion-forward boutique that, whether aware of it or not, is feminist to the core. Not a single item in this shop is designed to make you feel old, inadequate, overweight, flimsy, or undeserving of reenforced seams or pockets. 

On to the customer service. I was greeted nicely, genuinely, and unobtrusively by all the staff members. I smelled free will. The owner has not pounded an irrational fear of negative reviews into them. They seemed happy to offer help because they seemed happy to work there. HIGH FIVES, BOSS! The real test came when I found the most perfect, most me pair of shoes I have ever seen in my life. They were on sale, but not enough. I couldn't afford them. I also couldn't live without them. The girl working the floor, bless her heart, gave me my space while I "just wore them around the store" for 45 minutes so I could feel like I owned them for a second and talked to my SO on the phone who I hoped would be all "get them you totally deserve them" but was instead was like "nah, pay your student loans".  (I know right? I MOVED TO OHIO FOR YOU. I SHOULD HAVE SHOES.) The shopgirl casually checked in with me a couple of times, but didn't make me feel like the total creep I knew I was being. Her compassion was appreciated more than she will ever know. 

I bought the shoes. I am not even a little bit sorry. Screw you, Navient!
