Anderson / Lake Hartwell KOA Holiday

About

Located just one mile from I-85, we're halfway between Atlanta and Charlotte. Great location to visit the beauty and history of Upstate SC.

Story

Your family might enjoy Stumphouse Tunnel and nearby Issaqueena Falls or whitewater rafting on the river made famous in the movie Deliverance. Take a picnic lunch and go lake swimming at a recreation area or rent a pontoon boat on nearby Hartwell Lake. Explore the Jockey Lot, known as the South's largest flea market, or visit the town of Pendleton - the entire town is on the National Register of Historic Places. Take a scenic drive on a highway that follows old Cherokee footpaths, visit beautiful Clemson University just 15 miles away, and stop in to see the South Carolina Botanical Garden. Try your best at one of several challenging golf courses or go for a hole-in-one at the KOA's mini golf course. Maybe you'll find long-lost relatives through your genealogy searches in nearby libraries or history museums.

But perhaps you are just traveling through and don't have time to check out the area this visit. We are just 1 mileoff I-85 and are perfect for your stop over when you have to go through Atlanta (approximately 1 and 1/2 hour away). Get a good sleep and prepare to face Atlanta or relax after coming through at the end of your driving day!

Our stay was very short, arrived at 8pm and left at ,10 am. Lots of amenities, but with the rain and our quick turn around we were not able to use any. Everyone was very friendly. The only criticism is on a dark night the sharpish corners and lack of any kind of lighting to see space numbers made getting in tricky. However the nice camp host was available to show the way. Looks like a lovely place to stay if you arrive in daylight.

The camp ground is very convenient from I-85 without any road noise, in fact the camp ground is very quiet at night. It is well maintained with a pool, play ground, putt putt golf, and dog area. The sites are basically level with dirt ground and each site has a satellite hook up and a fire ring. If you have a larger rig it will be difficult to use the dump station so either get a full hook up site or plan on dumping after you leave. We stayed at this camp ground when we traveled from VA to FL both ways and we will stay here again.

Clean bathrooms, Friendly and helpful Staff. Good tent site. Lots of mosquitoes. Quiet hours were actually quiet. Had to leave second vehicle at visitor parking but wasn't far to walk to. Water and Electric was convenient. Limited but wifi available, traffic noise from highway but frogs and bugs were just as loud. Campers had their dogs out and walking them, so pet friendly. Over all good experience.
