In search of a local grocery store walking distance from me, I came across Andy's. The produce seemed fresh enough, and very inexpensive. They offer a wide variety of Hispanic foods, as well as some local brands which was refreshing. If you're looking to purchase any products that you would find at a corporate grocery market, prepare to spend a little extra. Progresso and Campbell's soup, Heinz, all were at least $1-1.75 more. With that said, I'll be back for most of my shopping needs. The checkers are also very sweet :)

My point of comparison is Harvest Time, and Andy's is no Harvest Time. That said, it's not a bad store on its own merits. The produce section is rather small and the selection isn't huge. Some of it didn't look fresh while others looked fine. The deli and butcher sections were great. The selection of canned and dry goods is ok, but they have some really interesting ethnic items. Dairy section has most of what you'd want, but limited choices (think one or two brands of yogurt and milk). Staff were not unfriendly or hostile as other reviews have said, more disinterested than anything. You can get most of your regular groceries here, but Harvest Time might be better if you need something specific.

Most horrible help you get from them, stubborn and ugly smelly fishy store. They love to argue, they don't know what sorry means. They knock you and NO SORRY. I wanted to return defected stuff, they refuse to. I just hate this smelly place. Don't waste your money there. I wanted to buy Lotto tickets from them, I had to wait 10 minutes sharp because they only have 1 ugly lady working there. GO TO CERMAK.

This is an interesting European grocery store. You can't buy homemade burek (filo doughpie with cheese, spinach or meat filling) that you bake in the oven, fresh breads, muesli, cereal, lots of fruits and vegetables; and you can also buy meat, tortillas, spices, choose from a huge selection of European wine, cookies and chocolate, and there is a nice beer selection. There is also a bulk section with nuts, dried fruit, etc.

Some things are great. Some things deserve to be fresher. More variety. And the .10 cents per plastic bag is just a scam to drum up money.
